If you want some tips on how to get million view videos on a regular basis, I'm always open to talking shop. I love chatting with other creators an learning new things. I just stumbled upon your channel, because this video popped up in my feed. Probably because I'm one of the guys that creates videos that say 3 things hvac contractors don't want you to know about haha It's good to see that not all hvac contractors (like yourself) are this way, but many are unfortunately. I know, because all of them come out of the woodworks to bash my videos in the comments section. Anyways keep up the good work brother. Cheers

Yeah, I don't know how you deal with the hate. I would love to talk a little shop, brother. How do I reach out?

I've been doing this for 27 years and something that Mike said really struck a chord with me. When I was 18 and just a helper we were in an attic changing out a furnace so I asked the technician what was wrong with this unit and he said "Nothing". I found out later he got a commission for the sale. He was there a couple days before for a service call and he condemned it. Just make sure you do your homework. But don't lose Faith because a lot of us are good honest people.

My next door neighbor hired a company to come over to just do a check on her system. there was nothing wrong. he told her that her capacitor was about to fail. she had already paid $200 for them to come over just to check things out. he then proceeded to charge her $900 to replace her capacitor that had not failed yet. that is absolute robbery.

That's insane. No excuse for that. At all.

One of the best explanations I have heard as to why a contractor can charge $300, $400, etc, for a $10-$20 capacitor. Business is business, and it just makes sense with the overhead and costs associated with operating a business.
@JerseyMikeHVAC4 ай бұрын
Wouldn't even say it's the overhead. It's opportunity.

Mike, one of the main reasons why I tried to learn how to do simple things with my AC as a homeowner is: AC normally breaks on Friday, Sat or Sunday (night).. Ac guys are extremely busy to come by within 24hr and we are exposed to 110 heat index temperatures in south Texas. Ac is no longer a luxury as houses are built with conditions that do not allow us to live without ac anymore. We value the work of all AC technicians and understand why they charge what they charge. A home owner will not add refrigerant, change a coil or replace a compressor, I only to the basic simple things to stay afloat during this crazy high temperatures. Your videos on preventive maintenance and small fixes are great for me. thank you

I would do the same. Glad my videos are helping.

Mike, thanks for showing us the wizard behind the curtain so to speak. Your content is always direct and to the point, no bs. I would not mind paying for certain services but the work ethic of most techs is terrible. Many of them are very transient and bounce from one HVAC contractor to another. There is no employee loyalty anymore. Truly a shame.

Thank you. You're absolutely right. I struggle with the issue every day with every interview I conduct. Kind of a mess.

It won’t be much longer before replaceable caps are a thing of the past with inverter systems that are necessary for the higher SEER ratings.
@JerseyMikeHVAC4 ай бұрын
True. But it'll probably take 15-20 years for the cap units to finally fade into obscurity. All of the R-22 systems aren't even gone yet.
@zlo92x214 ай бұрын
And at that point the price of caps will increase as well lol

interesting is how some of the DIY HVAC youtubers seem to have more high tech expensive gear/tools than the pro's.
@joelperigo72134 ай бұрын
That’s because they make more money on KZbin bad mouthing HVAC contractors than an actual HVAC contractor makes.

Really appreciate the approach to this video my guy 🫡 it’s not about “scamming” or contractors “don’t want you to know” bs that gets pushed by these cats. Keep it up dude your grinding, content is great!
