I agree with the vents in the back. Wish they just included them in there for the price we’re already paying for the car. Would have made the inside of the car cool or warm up that much faster than just using the front vents

Have a 2022 Wolf Grey GTLine for 6 months now,and no problems at all,been on two 300 mile highway trips and performed like a charm, ran with the Porsches and just about anything else,topped 100 mph with ease. Who gives a fuck about fake exhaust,this car is badass! Get nothing but compliments.

Agree, I don't understand this fascination about where the freaking exhaust comes out from. My 58 cadillac has FAKE EXHAUST PORTS, it's nothing new! Yes, my GT LINE will zip up to 100 mph plus, easily. With more available. Though I normally drive it at 80 85 on the freeway. Its a great car. VEGAS is 3 and a half hours away, and I still get 36 37 mpg on those trips.

I bought same exact car as 2023. Like others I get non stop compliments...I have no issues. If it's cold or hot outside..I have the Kia app to adjust the temp before I get in the car....I will admit that I have to get use to less premium features because I traded out of a 2016 Optima SXL that literally have everything in it but im okay with the change over for now.

I just got my 2023 K5 Gt Line and tbh, i do agree, but overall I still love the car and im glad to have chosen this over a Legacy or an Accord. I love the sport look. In regards to the 2023 Accord Sport 1.5, it was incredibly slower than the GT line

I don't understand how you can't appreciate the K5. Excellent in gas, great on looks, and so so on performance. That's a great combination to me. Maybe your appetite called for scat pack power and wide body looks. But for the money you can't complain.

I bought one in late Nov. Love it. Absolutely no complaints other than it’s a little difficult to get in and get out. (6ft, 190 lbs.) (My wife has no problem getting in or out. She also said it’s the easiest car to drive compared to all the other cars we have had. )But what smaller car doesn’t have that problem? He's nitpicking at best. Who changes their own oil anymore??? And who can get under any car to change the oil unless you have a lift in your garage or dining room.

I used to use steel ramps years ago, with with hard plastic extensions for my lowered cars and it was easy to get under and change the oil. Not sure if they still sell those, just have to be careful to line them up precisely or have somebody guide you if needed. That or a decent hydraulic jack.

@Danny G I got one and it has plenty of leg room, it's pretty spacious, and I'm over six feet tall. Only weird little gripe I have is the doors don't shut sometimes, but it's not a big deal. I'm used to them shutting easily and with this vehicle you have to slam it just a little bit, otherwise it stays open but you can't really tell untill you look at the dash and see that a door is open.

I always change my oil - far cheaper and its done right with quality oil and filters- the k5 awd would bew my choice over accord or camry- elantrra is ugly this looks like stinger

I have a 2021 that just now has 15,000 miles on it and for the most part I love it. I agree about the fake exhaust holes on the rear bumper - ugly and mine have started pitting and getting little rust spots on them. I haven't had the issues with the rear vents since I usually don't have passengers in the back. I haven't changed my own oil yet but thanks for the heads up for future changes. One issue I have had with mine is constant disconnecting of the Apple Car Play when I am driving. I would love to know if anyone else has similar issues. It doesn't always connect or will randomly disconnect while I'm driving. Overall, though, I love the styling and features of my car and plan on keeping it until it dies !

If those are the only downfalls of the Kia5 not bad only one is not have the back seat vents but overall thought it would be much worse. Kia has come a long way with their brand and this is someone who lived in Seoul for 9 yrs seeing Kia's everywhere!

I got the same plastic piece coming up. When it gets hot under direct sunlight it does that. I just keep pushing it down. also noticed on the rear windows the plastic frame on the bottom is cheap and doesn’t line up perfectly and can be loose. It’s a little reminder that it’s still a Kia. But I’m happy with my purchase and I like the fact that there arent that many on the road and its proabably the best design Kia made in my opinion. I still get people turning their heads and wondering what car it is.

@@HD_Kerino i have a 2021 k5 GT LINE. Almost a year and a half now, no issues with trim or body at all. And I wash it once a week, so water isn't causing it. Its been absolutely flawless.

@@johnfranklin5277 yup it all about how the owner takes care of the care, my mom had a Toyota that didn’t piece together well, probably because she didn’t care for it. But the Kia didn’t have the same issues, she liked it more and it showed. Kia owners usually suck, and that reflects in the cars condition.

Just test drove one the gt line trim level and it was really nice and comfortable. The one thing I notice was the turbo lag so touching on the gas won’t give that quick get up and go in red lights unless you really press it. Overall near the top of my list and almost got it but the dealer had a 5k dealer up charge 😑

By 5k dealer upcharge what do you mean as far as what they were charging? The 2022 GT line would premium package should be under 31k then taxes and all that jazz. I think most dealerships have a dealer fee and delivery of something like $500-1500. What were they charging at yours?

@@WIDERisBETTER it was fully loaded awd gt line msrp was about 31k with 1k destination fee then a 5k dealer up charge so totaling about 36k for the car. I got them to bring down the total to 33k which I feel a little more comfortable buying but it’s still a hefty up charge.

I just ordered a 2023 EX model... upgraded Bose 12 speaker audio. Heated and ventilated front seats heated steering and rear vents for those in the back. Always worth getting the extra if you are going new car OR used... especially if you are planning on putting the miles on it. Get it with all the comfort options and sound options you want if you are actually going to use it and keep it.

My 21 EX has rear vents. Its just some trims dont have them. The other stuff just seem like picky complaints. I've had mine 2 yrs and 22K and have no issues other than the wireless carplay. If I had to think of one solid complaint it would be that there is not an option to pause your carplay from the steering wheel.

I just picked up a 2022 GT Line, and I agree the dual exhaust should have been better. I didn't even notice that there were no rear vents as I never have anyone in the backseat. I have a Sorento for taking passengers. Overall, I love my K5 and am so happy I chose this car over some of the others I looked at.

I spent 20 years as a mechanic at a Chevrolet Dealer. I was picked to repair all the T-Top water leaks on Camaro's, I've learned that T-tops, removable roofs, convertibles, there's only 2 kinds of tops, the ones that are going to leak and the ones that leak right now. If you want the sun shining on you buy a Harley. Don't be too hard on Kia and Hyundai, there was a time when most people thought of them as pure junk. I bought a 2015 Optima LX in Sept of 2014, I retired two years after I bought it, It's been perfect since the day I brought it home, sure I can nit-pick it but look at what it started out as. Now I've been retired for 5 or 6 years, I don't drive it much, the odometer only has 44k on it and I've had it for almost 6 years. I'm happy, although I wish I'd bought the Forte Gt instead.

My wife has an identical K5 (except for black seats) and I just did its first oil change. I don't agree with your impression of the difficulty of changing the filter; I found it to be a piece of cake and much better than most of my other cars. Compared to my daughter's 2010 Prius, it's a breeze.

When doing the oil change I found it easier to attached the drain plug and the safety pin to the housing before screwing it back on. Second I hate that the car doesn't have andior or apple car play wireless when there is a wireless charger. The technology isn't new and should have just been standard with the wireless charger.

I love my K5 but they are all over the place with how they offer different features across the trims, I'm in OH so I had to get an AWD and it's great but the remote start doesn't run long enough and they don't have any lights on while it's running, I don't know who that bad decision. I'm not planning on changing my own oil though, it may cause issues with the warranty if I ever need it.

@@artysgarage yes I have this winter and it works amazingly and unlike most AWD where only 2 front wheels start rotating when you take off then back wheels pick up if there's sliding, with K5 all 4 wheels start at the same time, preventing any sliding I tested it on the hills, slopes it performed excellent

I did try one out test drive Kia K5 GT barely fit for 5.11 and also tried 2021 Nissan Rouge I bought 2021 Nissan Rogue 8-9 months few maintenance got into rear ended completely crushing back I had it towed to Nissan collision center four weeks repair Insurance gave me a rental Kia K5 for temporary for me to use while mine was while repairs I also fixed mine 2005 Toyota Sequoia 4.7L V8 for 18 years still running never trade it in Toyota reputation for last forever

Had mine for 6 months now and still loving it. The goofy oil filter is not really a n issue as I have access to a car lift for service. Lack of rear ventilation is a minor issue until the whole interior gets to the desired temperature. And the sound system could use some upgraded speakers, factory speakers are cheap not crisp and lively. Otherwise, it's the best car you can get at that price point. Honda and Toyota are living on their name and cost more and give you less.

Yes, I had a 2014 Avenger before I got this car last June and I hate the speakers! They suck compared to my old car-which sounded like it was an upgraded sound system but it was basic trim.

Kia can fix that loose trim, no problem. Hasn't happened to me, 0 issues on my 21 K5 GT LINE with premium package. Like it very much. Agree about oil filter, spin on type SO MUCH easier. But this does address thousands of metal oil filters that are discarded every year.

Let's face it, most cars are deleting real exhausts(even the Germans are doing it)..I think it's for economical reasons to make the car more efficient..Only performance cars has real exhausts..So, you have to choose whether you want a gas saving car or a car that will drink up more gas because of power...If you wanted rear vents, you should've opt for the EX trim. Then again, you won't get AWD either. Only on LXS and GT-Line trim. Me personally, I don't care for rear vents since I'm going to do most of the driving and have no children. So the GT-Line would be perfect. I just wish they added optional ventilated seats. But overall, I think the K5 is a better buy than Camry or Accord. Accord doesn't even have a panoramic roof or big infotainment screen. So take that as you will.

I do agree with you I had a brand new camry a year ago and the Kia k5 gt line is definitely better. The Kia in general is a lot of car for the money. Yes I know you can get rear vents but i think for 30k it should be standard for the size of a car it is.

I got like five grand of positive equity on it my lease is up in July I'm way over the mileage my plan was to keep it but somehow I got my shifter wet and half the time it has me in park and drive while I'm driving...then it will go back to normal smh So right now there's no lights on and it's acting normal so that's why I kind of want to just trade it in without them knowing lol And I really wanted to get a K5 I thought the GT was the highest trim level for the K5? I thought it was just the GT line and the GT But his dealerships it seems like my payments are going to be too high even if I throw four grand of that positive equity Still going to have my payments too high right now... I only play I only paid two 10 a month on this lease and they were starting me in the 300s and I talked them all the way down I just want to get out of this car now but! Lol I also like the Hyundai sonata N looks nice too ... I just don't know what the reliability is on these cars will it hold up like a Camry and work well over a hundred thousand miles? I used to have a Kia optima and I thought totaled but it wasn't at the 100,000 miles mark yet

If you want the Kia, go for it, but don’t buy a car you are going to hate simply because of the badge, don’t buy it and then regret it because all your friends make fun of you. My friends did the same thing, but all drive one now. But honestly you should stick to what you know, and stay with the Japanese.

One thing I really hate about the Kia K5 is that it has no gas pump lever. I went to go put gas in the gas door was not opening. I went to the driver side of the car to look for a lever, and there was none. If anyone else gets stuck with this problem, i feel you. I have looked into many videos, and I have not been able to open the gas pump because there is no lever.

If you have your nob, the gas door should open with just a push of your hand. Mine always does. If you can't open your gas door, how are you driving it?

I actually had an issue where the gas door actuator was not releasing when you unlocked the car and it meant you couldn't get into the gas tank at all. It was still under warranty, so the Kia dealership replaced rhe actuator. I havent had any issues with it since I've gotten it back, but I read enough about it to discover it is a common issue with the K5.

The one thing i really hate about them. I know what I dislike others do, is the back end. It has that hatch back look to it. I find it ugly I like the front ect just the back. I have a 2020 loaded Optima right now. I do not see my self buying K5 because of that. But maybe it will grow on me but probally not.

My only complaint at 7500 miles is the ridiculous oil change procedure and the cheesy drain /filter housing which seems very easy to break. Fortunately my wife drives it as all the tech and lane departure beeping and steering corrections would drive me nuts ! 2nd Kia in 4 years with absolutely no mechanical issues

Seems like a Kia problem, when I had my Kia Optima 2020 I only used car play just for maps. Of course the Kia Optima didn’t have wireless CarPlay(I think it depends on what trim you get) but you had to use a charger for CarPlay and it would always disconnect, the chargers are perfectly fine and my phone is perfectly fine but I would just randomly disconnect, it was so frustrating. But I didn’t care too much about it cause it didn’t happen too many times. I own 2022 Toyota Avalon touring now super huge upgrade from Kias

Arty, appreciate your thoughts - we got a K5 GT-Line in Dec and learned afterwards a few annoyances that you didn't mention. 1) The biggest one is the lack of front and rear parking sensors. How could the Kia designers and product managers convince themselves that this is not a safety feature and include it on every vehicle. My 2012 (10 years older!) Honda includes these. They opted to include advanced features like lane guidance and active steering, front detect auto braking, adaptive cruise control, rear camera, rear side approach warning but not parking sensors. Really? PDW-F & PDW-R are not even available options except on the EX and GT (with GT1 options package). I'm truly befuddled by this. The 2020 model had it and they removed it as an even an option. So cheap! Anyone know if there's a way to add this via third-party after market or is it possible to do a rear bumper replacement? 2) The loudness of the car lock / beep. It's too soft. I wish there was a way to make it louder but again I think it's preset. I'm going to connect to the OBD port and see if there are any settings that can be adjusted. 3) I can confirm with others that CarPlay is flaky and only works with a wired connection. For a 2022 model to not include wireless CarPlay is a real shame. And the USB connection has to be a specific port. 4) The climate control is truly messed up in this vehicle, I just can't get the system to cool or blow air at the right temperature and pressure and the lack of rear vent (as a standard option) is also a braindead decision. I'm not all negative, we bought this car for its included safety features, sprightliness, design and sporty look and overall value. I just wish we could overcome some of these annoyances.

Carplay is negligible, the nav system is just fine. Climate control is adequate, not using auto,not a game changer. If you want the other conveniences,buy the other vehicle. I'm 100% satisfied with my 2022 K5.

One thing I hate is why when I buy a Cheaper Car it always comes with a Clove Compartment light, my K5 didn't but have a lot of features this is one thing they got to Fix, and I don't care about vent I fine them good and bad but' the bottom vents under seat blow good just tell everybody to dress cool when you have a full car keep the jackets in the car in case they get cold that's a simple fix, they either don't have to go or drive your own damn car lol, and if you got kids and you're going far rent a van.

@@TheChris91173 It's very obvious what I mean by that. While Kia is upgrading/facelifting their exterior of the car. Basically making it not look like a typical Kia, the interior doesn't get enough love. Perfect example of an interior that gets enough love is Sonata. They went from ground 1 to that, their interior looks well designed, looks comfortable. Not bashing Kia, I'm just saying that an interior remodel (in terms of the overall look) should be looked at. Should be easy with the fact that Kia is owned by Hyundai, but you should know what I mean. Kia's interior is an obvious "yeah that's Kia alright" type of look. I can tell you what's Kia and what's not just by a few POI's in the vehicle.

KIa designers made a HUGE MISTAKE with these fake, phony, fraud, exhaust tips. What I don't understand all late model KIA Optima EX Turbos ALL HAD REAL DUAL EXHAUST TIPS. 9000 miles and I just dropped mine off at the dealership for the horn not working and one of the fog lights continuously going out. Another guy I spoke with started having electrical issues at 8000 miles. Love the car but this is not a good start.
