I just picked up the Vanquish 540 pro pack about 2 weeks ago. Went out on a couple of hunts to the park and to the beach. Wow! What a smooth machine especially on the beach! 😎

i have the 340 nothing bad to say. was $60 off craigslist. put the V12 coil on it. and the weather cover easy as hell to use. jus do a 90 degree let it read the target in all metal. ,it tells you pretty accurately if its junk. 👍👍👍.

I have nothing bad to say about my minelab vanquish it beats detectors that cost 3-4X more in both depth and accuracy. But it loves to give you a good signal on iron

I was surprised to see that the Vanquish 540 takes AA batteries. Nice feature.

There's a big rechargeable aftermarket pack someone makes that snaps right in place. But I'd rather save weight and just carry a spare set.

@@SeekandDetect - Agree. Especially for travelling or emergencies. Extra weight of chargers, charging time &/or no-AC. Better to have regular alkalines; can also be used for flashlights, GPS, etc...

@@OLdweeb I have a "off grid" trip planned in a couple weeks. I recently bought a 60,000mah power bank. I can charge everything at the same time while I'm driving (detectors, camera gear, drone). I have AC power in the back, but it shuts down when you stop the engine. Also it drops from 400w to 100w while driving.

I really want to understand on the 540 is if it has different modes like jewellery and iron etc why is it all the modes seem to pick up every metal. So jewellery mode will still pick up a ring pull, or pull tab in USA Thanks for any tips on this.

It's true all mosts will pick up most metals. Different most like jewelry, relic, field, coin etc on detectors usually changes settings for the location you're searching. Most detectors have a "scale" of different metals and sections of this scale can be turned off and on. This is called discrimiation. It would be nice to set the machine for just the number on the scale for the target you are trying to find. The problem is most targets can read different according to size, depth, soil conditions etc etc. Most of us run the machines so they trigger on every target, we learn to use the sound, target number to give the best estimate of what the item is before we dig it. Only after time and experience will you get better at this.

The solid 13 VDI number on the 540 vanquish is a nickel and not a pull tab.

Never know! Pull tabs come in different sizes and thicknesses. But I know what you mean👍🏼
