As a 6'3" non gifted athlete, this video speaks volumes. I explain to my clients everyday that to be great at 1 great "party trick" you must do all of the boring "Party planning" to get there. The party planning to me has become one of the most productive and fun parts of training. Appreciated today's content. 🤠🤙

Love the shout-outs to tall Crossfitters. Not enough people give tips or info or cues that apply to them. Great stuff.

Well done for highlighting the need for more specific skill sessions and not just metcons or, alternatively, do crossfit without high skill movements. Learning a new skill is great but for health and fitness it is possible to do Crossfit without high skill movements

It is called sleep dependent procedural memory consolidation. It can be predicted via EEG: what happens while you are sleeping is that the neurons in your hippocampus „replay“ the movements you practiced during the day and transfer the information into the cortex. It is like you continue to practice during your sleep.

interesting. Is it possible to increase/improve this phenomenon for better performance?

@@davidjohnson4222 Great question! In the studies I‘ve read and coauthored it was more like a trait, meaning that some folks just have a higher theta power (= a unit for EEG activity) and therefore are better able to consolidate procedural memory via sleep. Maybe they were born with it. But it definitely would be interesting to study specific interventions to try to increase Theta power, e.g. neurofeedback and imagining the movement pattern over and over.

There have been opens where a pullover is allowed if you can't perform a bar muscle up. Maybe I'm wrong...

If you’ve ever done the “got none” training piece, you know that skill work can still be hard as shit haha.

I love crossfit, I love working out. A HATE that many coaches and crossfit boxes prioritise teaching kipping/butterfly Pullups, over getting their clients strength up in the trict pull up... I believe it stems from the top, never seen pros do strict pull up on their social media, neither in the televised comps! It's a big shame, as I believe the strict pull up is a awsome exercise getting the back seat, year in and year out!
