3 Tips for Buying a Brand New Car

Thinking about buying a brand new car? Truthfully speaking, it can be one of the most grueling experiences you'll have.
Car salesmen will use tactics, gimmicks, and psychological games to get every single penny out of you, don't let them. In this video I didn't get the chance to mention that one common guilt trip they love to use when you're supposedly pushing the price 'too low' is: "You're taking about a 100 bucks away from my family". To which you MUST and SHOULD respond with: "Oh yeah, you're taking $XX,XXX away from my family. Which sounds worse? You losing a couple nice nights out? Or me having to make car payments for the next 3, 4, 5, 6 years?" At this point the car salesmen will know you have a set budget and won't deviate from that. Again, THEY ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS. Period. End of story. Remember, car buying is a cruel business so don't become one of the suckers! Anyways, here are 3 simply tips that will hopefully save you a few thousand bucks!

Sarkozy 30k in us money is around 43k in nz and at that price range the best rwd car you can get new is a gt86/mx5 whereas a well spec'd mustang goes for double that and the camaro is coming to nz next year at an even higher premium and the m2 starts at over 100k. I'm not saying they're the best vehicles in the world but I'd take the 400hp mustang over the 200hp gt86 anyday

Step 1: DONT Wait a year or two and get it fors 20% less. For example You can get a base model nissan versa for 13 grand OR A 2009 Mercedes c class for 11 grand and an extra 2 grand for repairs.

Tip 2: when I got my 2017 Camaro in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and I live in Charlotte, North Carolina. We paid the deal with the guy over the phone and had all the numbers written down so that way when we get there which is like a 300 mile drive and we made the deal, we even got it down a little more which was crazy. So yeah it’s not bad to get a car car away you just have to be smart.

to keep them from screwing you on the price print out a copy of the the car your going for. if they try to change the price overnight you can show them that print out and they have to abide by it as long as it was recent.

Never thought of that, but it makes sense on the part with buying just before the newest models ship. The dealers want to get rid of all their 'old' new cars from the present year to have more space for the next year's models.

Rookie salesman cant get you deals if the sales manager doesnt approve it. Any salesman doesnt just throw in freebies they are there to convince you on a purchase to make that commission. In the end, if you to finance, the finance manager always approves what would be an eligible sales price. Another thing when buying a new car is wait a year or 2 too see what problems are common with the current models. Japanese automakers made cars 2 years prior before selling to foreigners to ensure any defects are solved before mass producing and selling to other countries and thus created a quality stream of vehicles.

guilt tripping salesman are the worst. That's why ppl go to dealership after dark just to avoid salesman. And uncle won't even go to neice's shop because he worried that he would be guilt tripped to buy some product. These kinds of selling tactics drive customers away. in modern internet age, the only reason we need salesman is to gain information on the product we are interst in. You treat me well, give me all the info i want to know and we can make a reasonable deal, then we can close it.

I pissed a customer off because I told him straight up we can't give him the deal he was asking for. He wanted a $50,000 tundra but he was upside down 14k on his trade. Wanted to put zero money down and demanded a $700 a month payment. THOSE NUMBERS SIMPLY DONT WORK OUT. The lowest we could get was 950 a month with a 72 payment term. Pro tip...don't roll in the dealership in your nicest car or a friends nice car...find the crappiest car you have a 2000s Toyota or Honda will work😂😂...if you roll in with a brand new car they will probably suspect you have a lot of money

My dad bougth a MK4 Golf V6 and awd, it was in mint codition and it had lowering springs, it was listed for 40.000 SEK aka ~4000$ and when he went there it was 600km to it, and when we came the sails men said that it was listed for 50.000 SEK aka ~5000$ so he was kinda forced to buy it. Three months later the cat rusted away so he bought a new exuastsystem and 6 months later the alternator broke, so he sold it for 20.000sek aka 2000$ just to get ridd of it. It was a great car while it lasted. He power slid it in the winter and on gravel roads (he is 43 yers old)

For me as a teenager, my parents want a brand new car for me to use cause they come with safety features. Even one a couple years older isn't what they want cause they aren't the most safest updated car they can get. I personally love classic cars and like the prices you can get for even a top of the line Cadillac that's as old or older than 2009. But that's their preference.

Some of us don't mind knowing what other people have done with the car. We are just trying to get a good deal. And sure, a used car will typically require more maintenance, but the lower purchase price will vastly offsets those costs, as well as give you much more left over for doing modifications to your liking. Or, it could allow you to purchase a much higher end car than you could get new with the same money. Also, many people just like being thrifty, a may want to see how cheap of a car they can get away with using. Also, unless you are very wealthy, you are likely paying for your car with a payment plan, so the price gap for a new car vs used goes up even more. IMO, there is a difference between being able to buy something and being able to afford something. Outside of a house, I personally would want to be able to pay for anything either with cash, or with credit I know I can pay back immediately. Another thing is that cars today are very different then cars from the past, and they have different characteristics people may not prefer. Cars today are very safe and have lots of technology. These feature may be attractive to some, but they also make the car heavier and more complex. Some people, such as myself, prefer the simplicity and visceral feeling that comes with driving older cars. Additionally, to your points about a used napkin or clothes, a napkin is designed to be a one time use item, and many people buy used clothing. Every heard of Goodwill, or any other consignment shop? I would liken a car more to house than those items, because it can be very large purchase, and is more of an investment than an item to be consumed.
