Yes you did jinx it! LOL But there are always haters. Ignore them and absorb the positive :) BTW I had to laugh at 2:30 when he called it a "country house". This was a short video but really got me thinking about avoiding an ordinary shot and making it dramatic. I'm taking my Mavic out today and practicing.

Did you use any kind of nd filters for your "sun footage"?
@DroneFilmGuide7 жыл бұрын
I don't think so. The ND filters are just like another way of increasing the shutter speed so they don't change the look of the footage unless there is a lot of motion in it. If there is motion then you will see the correct amount of motion blur, e.g. when filming cars.
@10MinutestoRouletteFortune6 жыл бұрын
To me, the "rule of thirds" applies not only to placement of the subject on the screen, but also the emphasis on foreground, middle ground and background. The key is to use them both together completing the ideal composition. Add in some sort of eye "path" leading into the video like a windy road or a stream will draw the viewer into your creation of a 3 dimensional scene causing their eyes to dance while looking at the scene or clip.
@RM-ud9tf7 жыл бұрын
Do you all use or recommend ND filters?
@DroneFilmGuide7 жыл бұрын
In theory yes but in reality, not that often! You want a 1/50th shutter for the correct motion blur and you can tell from time to time if it is not 1/50th. We lost confidence in NDs once when we came back with a bunch of fuzzy footage and never really got to the bottom of it but ideally, yes, you should use NDs.

Must say I enjoy all your videos giving simple techniques - thank you. Easy for the novice to train these. Can I request a tutorial on the a-z process - simplistically - on an entire project? Idea-storyboard-research-shooting-post processing... to name a few. I was born without a creative gene, so I would to learn from a simple template and build from there. But I love my Mavic. Thanks in advance...

hey man! amazing videosss!! just one question... for making shots of the reveal when u fastforward the video on the couple (minute 2:04) on what framerate should i use my mavic? As I read the best frame rate for cinematic was 24pps.... but dont kno if this frame rate works for this kind of post editing without looking choppy.... THANKS!!!!!
@DroneFilmGuide7 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean about speeded up footage looking choppy. In this case it is just 25fps speeded up 4 or 8 times I think. If it's fast enough you don't see the choppiness and we also try to keep it to a round number, e.g. 4x as opposed to 3.58x. The way it should really be done is to film on 5fps or something like that but obviously that's not an option mid-shot!

Very helpful tips. Let me ask you. I need to shoot something similar, but I do not need to go more than 20 feet of altitud and less than 170 feet of radio. Do I need still to get a FAA permit ?? Of course I would to show everybody my video!! I would like to use it as an small establishing shoot. Then, Do I need to get a FAA authorization for that a very low shoot in a drone, less altitud than a hose an a radio below to a block???? I will appreciate any advise.
