The amount of years you have practiced is clear. I’m a firm believer of doing to learn. As I practice I learn and things like “brakes aren’t just for slowing the car down”, start to make sense. Not because I’ve studied, or researched but because practice allowed my brain to automatically make the connection. These videos are absolute gold for anyone that has the drive to be the best, so long as like you say, we apply what we hear. Thank you mate, glad I’ve found your channel!

So we’ll said you n both of your post Buddy 🤛 It is very hard to explain something to someone who doesn’t have felt it before! Wen somebody who is not related to race driving techniques I usually say ,is about the opposite of normal driving! Making the car faster beyond the usual normal driving is so complex and will be fully understandable wen you start experience those different forces and that can happen only with lot of practice! Thx for those beautiful posts mate 😃

It is also very important to fix your sitting position to not have any gap on your back with the seat for proper muscle and organ support. Especially in braking the lower back muscles and spleen take a shit ton of load forces so it is a bit dangerous too. When you brake you must feel the force load below hips zone and never on your knees. Some may think this is a joke but its not. Its serious and it can cause damage and besides that you do lose very precious time in the braking zones. So thats wrong things 😆 Very nice and valuable information man. Not many people talk about this stuff and these are the most important ones.

I actually never thought much about that. I'm usually a very smooth driver, I'm very conservative with tires and most racing games give me a lot of points for consistency, car control and safety because I'm very safe. I'm slow but consistent so I find I lose a lot of time, sometimes 1-2sec in the same spec cars, using the same braking points, most likely because I'm not that aggressive on the brake. I also never see people talk much about this, but some people are very lazy turning the wheel, they understeer a lot because they are not turning the wheel enough. Thanks for this, later today i'm going to test this out about the brakes

I raced on a G29 for 6 years and hade some top times in timetrial and was generally quite fast. However after changing to simucube, simlab, sprints I did not really get faster. Sure sometimes more consistent but not faster. I had such a muscle memory for how much I had to push my pedals on the G29, with that said its probably easier to find that memory on my sprints.

I sucked when I got fanatec pedals for the first few months. One thing that really helped me was stiffening up the preload screw on the brake pedal because I found that I was breaking harder than the pro drivers did. So by stiffing the preload screw you're raising the zero percent pressure of the brake.

Great video (again!). Just one thing: that part with "lean the seat as much as your brackets allow" along with "pedals too low". These things are the same equation. I use rally position, and usually there is quite big drop between seat bottom rest and pedals - which is equalized with really upright backrest, so the angle stays the same. In real cars.

Thanks for another amazing video! You are really touching on the critical matters that most other youtubers miss. But I need a clarification need from you... I have on my rig the O/S SEAT BRACKET FOR GT/FORMULA SEATING POSITION as the seat bracket from TrakRacer, which allows very high incline angles as it also supports Formula style positioning, which I'm not interested. (Street and GT3 style driver) So would you please specify a bit more what should be the ideal incline angle for me to set my seat? Maybe go all the way down at the back and half way in the front? (As I believe the full tilt at the front would be for Formula style) Thanks in advance!
@chepilevski Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words buddy 🍻 I’m don’t know exact numbers of degrees inclination but I know for sure , as much more you lean back that much more comfortable it gets as the body transfers the the weight! That is exactly how I set my pedals! The reason is I want the brake pedal more straight to the force of my support and in I set it little to right as it seats usually in 3 pedals setup it takes off a lot of my force, comfort and precision! The pedals are really really great for the price indeed 😃 By the way I don’t have sponsors in this channel and my goal is to show as many products as I can to the community and just share my personal experience and opinion! Wen I’ve got the sequential shifter from them and made video about it, at some point they see it and asked me if I want to test the Alpha Mini and tell what I think about it and after that they ask me if I want to test the pedals! I really like the confidence they have and the whiling to produce top products with affordable prices! For the pedals I really need more time before I share my opinion because first I need to fully build new muscle memory and see how they really perform and second, those are the first hydraulic pedals I use after using Heusinkveld for years and I want to see if there are weak points compared to the Heusinkveld engineering! The way you calibre the break is very diferent from what Heusinkveld recommend for there pedals in iRacing. Frist make a full raw calibration on the Smart Control software, second in iRacing do the calibration using full scale and then go back to the Smart Control and costumize the brake has we like. For avoiding brake blocking is recomend to limit the brake to around 80%... Do you still recomend 60% for the Heusinkvelds with their type of calibration?!

Make sure you use around 60% of the load cell and make the brake pedal movement shorter which will help with the response time ! If you find yourself looking the tires easily make the pedal harder to press ! Happy racing buddy 🤛

Try to make the brake pedal with sort movement too , like 60% If brake lock easy make the pedal stiffer! Those short distance quick inputs help a lot we you used to 😃
@christoforospaphitis40902 жыл бұрын
@@chepilevski I understand what you're saying but I am a bit scared to implement this so I will stiffen up my brakes and try it out, as I am used to road cars and my input fidelity is based off from these cars and because of rally cars of yesteryears I am used to progressively attack the brake and release it to control the balance of the car on dirt roads or on low grip situations where flowing the car in and out of turns while maintaining the speed and balance of the car is more important than shorter braking distances. Changing this application for track driving proved to be a challenge for me and it still is as i have to consciously force myself to attack the brakes, once i settle in my subconscious, the progressive application of the brakes resurfaces and this might be losing me a few meters of braking distance. I noticed that when I was following an "alien" in practice that he was braking about 5-10 meters later than me and in a lap with many braking zones this could amount to about a second and another second or so simply because he is a better driver than me willing to push the limits harder. On a sidenote with VR it is much easier to learn new tracks than on the monitor but find it harder to push to the absolute limit once I know the track...to suppress the subconscious mind. *edit* I tried it and I made the mistake to jump directly into a short race without practice lol... I was absolutely dreadful locking up a lot in the first few applications and then i think i wasn't accurate enough. Tbh my thrustmaster TCL already has a relatively short travel distance and limiting it to 60% and even to 80% looks to me too short. I think i will have to recalibrate the brakes in its own software as with the rig i can apply much more force than before

@@christoforospaphitis4090 oh man I totally understand everything you point and fully agree with that! I’m surprised you made that change and jump in race 😂😂😂 We have talk about the subconscious driving and those autopilot muscle memory movements so many time and did that 😁 that must have been harsh experience 😂 Changing the old habits is hard thing and we know that !

@@chepilevski I haven't raced in a long time and I was just itching to have a go without caring about results. I can rebuild my IR and SR if I need to, simply join some simlab races in the MX-5 and it will be done. But yes it was bad haha on the installation lap I locked up 6 times and my vr had an alignment issue and was next to the A pillar and the steering to my right so yeah everything that could go wrong did go wrong. Had fun though. By the end of the year I just want to get acclimated to the new setup and not care about results

Actually I use around 60% of the load cell for quick inputs! Then I calibrate second time and make sure I live that death zone ! I don’t know how I missed to explain that but I will in the next video! Short distances help too but the pedals must be set hard enough!

First of all, thank you for your helpful video! I have a question about point 3. I have the fanatec Clubsport Pedals v3. I set the Brake to 1.5. would this have to be set somewhere to 3-5 in order to shorten the pedal movement? so that the brake has less movement. I have the feeling that trail braking is "easier" when it has more room to move ...
