Great video, Ross! I'm in the UK so I am mostly growing figs for their brebas. Brown Turkey is the most common breba producer here, I planted mine in the ground last year and plan to graft a few other varieties onto it in the future. I think I'll also plant a Desert King inground too.

I live in the UK. My 30 year old potted Brown Turkey, reliably produces huge palm size brebas. I also get a huge crop from my potted White Marseille. I have a young VDB, not yet producing and am attempting to grow several Desert King from cuttings.

Here in New York, I brought up from the basement my container tree figs tree in the middle of February and put them on my porch with a heater set at 50 degrees. Now in April 15th all my 20 trees are full with brebas and beautiful leaves. At the beginning I water them adding a splash of Fish Fertilizer and when the brebas started to grow I added a splash of Botanicare Pure Blend Pro Grow, , Cal Mag complete and Botanicare Sweet raw. They look amazing!!! I'm waiting for my Zone last freeze day to put them outside.

I’m in NYC area and I put my potted fig trees outside in early march. I don’t have heater or any protection. Last year they grow very but this year they got some damage. Yours might a few weeks ahead of mine but now the brebas sizing up and leaves out nicely.

@@khmergreen I did what you are doing last year and I took out my trees early and we had a few night with freeze and kill my tree's new leaves. This year I'm not taking any chances and I'll wait until May 15th.

Great work,followed your instructions &the roots were cut in December &replanted in bigger pots &pinched there tops &extra branches removed.But now one fig tree fruiting wit four figs at the heads instead of growing further ,on each top there are four figs on every branch but are pale ,week ,the leaves getting dried,in other tree is going very fine but leaves too getting rusted .in one very healthy leaves &figs but but falls after increasing in size .

I’m in Georgia and it got down to 13 F, crazy how it didn’t even get as cold where you are. My brown turkey and LSU Champaign often die to the ground and grow back as a bush during the spring. Oddly enough my brown turkey finally survived the winter and didn’t die back this time. I added a VDB this year, in part because of your channel, looking forward to having a 3rd variety

Great video Ross! Here in San Anton (8B / 9A), our Brown Turkey fig does great in our usda and produces twice a year.

Thanks for sharing about Brebas. My inground gigantic LSU Purple had between 50-75 of them, but pretty much every single one has fallen off. That was super heart breaking. The Celeste right next to it only had one breba. It's still on there, and it is just huge. Way bigger than last year's fruit. I wish I could explain these things. I have a hundred theories, but I just dont know. I always go to the amount of sun back there. It's not a lot. Maybe it was just too much for that plant to handle. I fed them the regular fertilizers, but I also included some flower fertilizer I don't normally use until later when I start seeing fruit buds. Very sad

Really find that Olympian has been an outstanding breba producer when inground here on the PNW.

I'm sure it is. Have you tried the others I mentioned? I can't imagine they're nearly as tasty.

I am in central NC. I just got fig tree brown turkey yesterday at Walmart and you show up, (weird huh). They cut back almost to ground. But lots of nice dark healthy green leaves. I think in 1 gal pot. Should i just let it stay in pot this year and replant next year? You are a wealth of knowledge. I thought i was getting something easy to take care of, but with your videos, not to sure? Hope i can do it. THANK YOU!

The trees I bought from you are doing great. Can you recommend fig trees that are early and more importantly, like to grow a lot of suckers/waters shoots.
@RossRaddi7 ай бұрын
There are plenty of early ripening main crop varieties. Campaniere, Ronde de Bordeaux, Hardy Chicago, Celeste. I need to compile a list of them. If you want a tree to sucker, prune it back a lot every year. Feel free to leave me a review if you have time. It would be much appreciated: g.page/r/CfZP8WsBK-TREAI/review

Chattanooga here! We had 3 night's in a row of single digits, 9, 3, and 3. Crazy. We are zone 8-A. I hope we don't see that again anytime soon.

We get a cloudy spring , will that make breibes flavorless ?

Nope. I'm in Oregon and we have a LOT of clouds and our brebas are so flavorful

My potted VdB is in its fourth year and growing nicely for me, but no sign of brebas so far. (zone 10 SoCal). Our spring and winter has been mild and cool. Am I just being impatient?
@RossRaddi7 ай бұрын
Are you sure it's labelled properly? Are you pruning too much?

I have a peters honey fig tree I woke up early to get a head start and i have had it outside for a while, but for a few days its been around 3-4 degrees Celsius and i rhink that was oo cold and all the brabas on it were aborted, as well as something ate 3 of the large leaves, and I have no idea what but it just left the stems
@RossRaddi7 ай бұрын
Not sure, but those cold nights definitely cause them to abort.
