Good to have you back making videos. This is great - I would enjoy seeing more content like this. Most urban areas, and particularly major capital cities, offer a huge amount of potential stock content for anyone who is able to approach the challenge with some imagination and creativity. How about building on the idea with some videos where you explore certain neighbourhoods and areas and set yourself a challenge relating to shooting a certain amount or type/variety of content?

Hi Nicole, liked the informative video. FYI, due to the potential for people using a tripod to mount a weapon on it in D.C., the Park Service requires that you get a permit to use a tripod.

Maybe it depends where you’re photographing, but I’ve photographed all over the DC area near and inside the monuments with a tripod and have never been told anything by Park Service (or Capitol Police). I have over 50 videos on it so there’s a lot to watch! The sites don’t tell you who bought your photos, but sometimes you can find them being used online with a little googling. For commercial photos (like if you give someone a photoshoot) you need a waiver, I recommend the App EasyRelease.

Hi Nicole. Do you ever get harassed when shooting imagery around political events or locations? I'm in Canada and am tempted to head into Toronto or Ottawa to shoot various shenanigans. BTW, your idea about shooting signs was darn good. When do you upload? How long should a video clip be in your experience? (I've only uploaded stock video. I watched a video of yours a while back when I think you said you were giving up on stock photos as there was no money in it.) Thanks for the video.
@NicoleGlass9 ай бұрын
Regarding your first question: only once in my life. There were 2 protests happening in DC, a MAGA Rally and a BLM protest. Someone threatened to destroy my camera if I took pictures. But other than that, nothing has ever happened - I'm usually pretty sensitive to what's going on and I try not to stand out too much. That means I'll sometimes use a small inconspicuous lens or even just my phone if I don't want to draw attention (like when I saw someone burn a car once.... that was intense). Video clips should be 5-60 seconds generally. I often upload 10-ish second clips.
