This day was playing out to be a bad day on the water. Then, luckily things took a turn in the right direction. 3 trophy Florida largemouth bass in one day is amazing. Fishing in Florida with wild shiners.

Awesome day of fishing! I don't know one thing about fishing with shiners so can you tell me your whole set up, rod power/length, reel, what type of hook do you use, line things like that. Thanks for the awesome video. 🤙

Thank you! I use pretty light tackle for Florida standards, but it’s what I’m comfortable using. I just use a 6 6 medium heavy carbonlite rod with a Johnny Morris series reel. Along with 50lb braid power pro line and a 4/0 or 5/0 circle hook. Again, it’s pretty light tackle for Florida standards, but I grew up fishing in IL and WI, so it’s what I’ve been use to for years. It works for me 🙂🎣

Wow! Missing the first 9 must have been frustrating, but you really made up for it! How many shiners did you go through?

I usually don’t get any more than 3doz when I go out myself.

@@bassfishingwithderrickgate4440 If its a muddy bottom you might want to try a black floating worm on a jig head like football jig and that way the worm will be sticking straight up and easy to grab. They don't like sucking in food off the muddy bottom because the mud and silt gets on their gills and irritates them a bit from what ive learned. Grass ! Yes. Muddy. No! So you need to get it up off bottom. Or try a drop shot rig if you cant find a big black floater. They'll eat it.

@@tomstclair961 yeah as far as I know it’s just a flat sand bottom

@@bassfishingwithderrickgate4440 You'll be good with a regular worm then. Good luck

@@bassfishingwithderrickgate4440 What color do you use on that lake in the summer Derrick?? Or are you even here in the summer. Lol. If I had a choice I would be somewhere cooler. 😅😅
