As a survivor of Katrina, seeing those pictures really brought back memories! Seeing plywood signs that had spray paint written on them with the number of dead. It was an absolutely traumatic event and I am feeling for these people right now that are affected by the storm! I'm praying for you and trust me when I tell you that I know what you're going through. Everybody try and get some aid to the southeast part of our country, because obvious that the government isn't going to do anything. 😟

Gulfport MS here, fellow Katrina survivor, I was 24 then 😎🤘🏻 It’s funny how you start to remember the heat, the smell, the mud, and the debris when you hear the Helene stories. It’s going to suck for months for them but all you can do is push forward and always help your neighbors. I wish I could snap my fingers and make it all go away for them. Anyone reading this, even if it’s $1, it means so much to them just to know other Americans didn’t forget them or ignore them. I wish nothing but the best for them. You’ll get through , just hang in there, help is coming ❤️

@@Skarbro Pascagoula here! What irritated me about what happened to us though is that nobody even knew Mississippi was touched by Katrina; the only thing the media was talking about was New Orleans. People didn't even know that Mississippi had any damage. I just hope that whatever comes next isn't like to bullshit we had to put up with after Katrina!

Did you know there are mountain towns destroyed in Tennessee and quite far inland in other states along and even away from the coast? It's really bad along much of the east coast and southeast US, but it's spread far more than most people know. There are mule teams bringing supplies to places, private owners of helicopters dropping things, roads are impassible all this time later. The Federal government has done nothing to help. And the mainstream media isn't covering any of this! Actually, they finally announced certain households would get $750, but we later learned that's pretty much only for people already on government assistance and even many of them can't get it because the process requires Internet and power, both of which are still out for most people. Katrina was really bad, others have been devastating as well. But this is the first time I've ever heard Uncle Sam say FEMA doesn't have money for the victims/survivors. Not to make this political, but facts are facts: FEMA gave over $650 million to illegals, and now they have nothing left for their own actual citizens. In addition, some citizens have been threatened with arrest for simply helping. They're being told no more flying in supplies, no more drones showing the world what is really happening. It's wild... One person wrote about their experience and said there were still bodies randomly scattered, including one in a tree. So yeah, this is pretty bad...

The government should be using our taxpayer money to help these poor families.. but yet they’re not. They would rather give it out to everyone else who is not American. Even FEMA is now saying they do not have the funding to help. Certain groups and organizations have tried to help these families.. but yet they’re told they aren’t allowed to. Apparently the hotels are filled with federal employees.. all while these families are left with nothing. Not to get political because politicians have ruined this country to begin with.. but the fact that our taxpayer money is NOT being given to help Americans during this horrible tragedy speaks volumes.

I know. Well, myself and some neighbors are reviving night time trick or treat. We won't start giving out candy until 7pm. After the kids having trick or treating taken away for the last 3 years, they all deserve the allure and mystery of going through the neighborhood in the dark and getting loads of candy! I'm giving out handfuls of candy to every kid. Hopefully it will make up for the loss caused by covid.

It’s really amazing how much it means to someone in that situation just get a hug or even a smile and a pat on the back. For me, what got me through the aftermath of Katrina, was all the small things people did for me. Just knowing people care and WANT to help speaks volumes. I know you guys have fires and floods and all these “fun” disasters too. The woman at the end of the video who lost her life to a skin infection probably got that skin infection from having been rushed right away to a hospital. Believe it or not the whole surface of those hospitals is covered in MRSA and other staph infection and it's a great place to go to pick up something that'll kill you. An old friend of mine went to the hospital to have a corn removed from her toe and got a staph infection from that that led to sepsis and now she's dead. It's an absolute nightmare.

Hello. Yes this is so true! My brother has had Sepsis a few times Within 4-5 hours he’s out of it with a fever usually 102-104. So off we go to the ER. It’s such a quick spreading infection. I am sorry you had to lose a friend this way! May she Rest In Peace 🙏🙏

As a microbiologist I can tell you that your skin is loaded with crazy bacteria. She was probably infected before she got to the hospital.

My Mom went to the hospital and died the next day from sepsis and pneumonia. She stopped breathing twice. She fell at home and they said she had a UTI. I sometimes wonder if going to the hospital finished her off. ? 😢😢. I pray not. She was 82. She was close to the end I think. She was seeing Dad. (Died 25 years ago). 😢🙏

A very good friend of mine and his partner and their friends are doin all they can for their State in NC, helping those that are stuck/stranded with no internet, no phone service, no roads goin in our out... and Just dead zone there. They are clearing ways for people, but it takes time... hauling trash/lumber/logs/etc away so they can go a lil further into the damaged areas. Prayers to any and all states that have been hit by Hurricane Helene, I heard someone say that some places in NC, Especially Asheboro and Chimney Rock is eerily similar to Hurricane Katrina levels of devastation/destruction... Just Isolated towns, Dead zones with no communication whatsoever and no way to get out, all roads/bridges washed out.

I m a survivor of hurricane Harvey back in 2017 in Houston texas and of hurricane beryl back in June of this year 2024 here in Houston 😏 but with the help of my home insurance and fema it was a great help both times but it still was very stressful jumping through their hoops in order to get your stuff covered, but yea I feel your friend's pain 😞 I'm sorry your friends are going through this, I'm sending prayers 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼Because everything is just so overwhelming and depressing stay strong 💔🙏🏼🙏🏼

Sexual assault of boys breaks me, they almost never feel like they can tell. And it was 1999. People really might have reacted in a manner which could have fucked OP for life. They still do react like hell when men and boys come forward. That story made me cry.

when a child is neglected they learn survival skills.... they can also disassociate if the kid was really kidnapped it would explain the snap but everybody wondering how the kid survived so long.... he had been doing nothing but surviving his whole life....

I am so sorry about your friends. 😱 If they are in Florida I think they should have taken the money from last time and moved to another state. I live in Mobile, Alabama. Went through Katrina. I was lucky and just had to replace my roof and my living room carpet and couches. Bless all the people 🙏that are in this same predicament!! Pray for all the families that have lost it all. 🙏😢. Pray for the families that have missing loved ones and the ones that have lost people. 🙏😢 I think where I am is overdue. I pray we are not next. 🙏
