The first story about the KTV place struck a cord with me. I was once in a gogo, went to pay the bill, reached in the pocket where I had a couple of 1000 bhat notes and found it empty (I suspect a ladyboy on the bhat bus earlier). As with the story teller I figured the best path forward was to get out in front of the problem, so I called the mamasan over and explained that I was a bit short on money to pay the bill. After counting up all the money I had on be there was around 500 bhat still outstanding. I asked the mamsan if I could pay as much as I had, go to an ATM, and come back with the remainder. She was good with this and I paid what I could, went to the ATM, and returned to pay the rest and bought the mamasan a couple of drinks for being understanding.

I always say to people who ask me about safety in Thiland "the Thais don't rob you, you give them your money" meaning how you approach certain situations or deal with them while they are ongoing dictates your experience. If anyone: Thai, English, Indian etc can get more money off of you of course they will. You have to have street smarts as well as common sense when going through life

I live in the Muslim south and it's not dangerous for westerners. The insurgents have a problem with the Thai government, not with tourists. Insh'Allah we will all be safe and the conflict will finish. Good video again, Peter.

We have the exact same scam here in the Philippines. Any stranger that wants to take you to their house to meet a girl will be the very old card game scam. Tried to pull it on me in 1985 then the same scam almost word for word in 2005.

Have a great time away, you deserve it. As for story 1, the guy is judging drunks (that's me on holiday) but made stupid mistakes that I wouldn't do even drunk. Being sober got him nowhere. What did was not overreacting to the situation and being nice. He was lucky.

Could u pls always state the age of the story tellers each time? Cos i cant imagine if u r talking about a 35yr or 65yr cos it makes a big difference to the stories eg when u said the man was 65. & was showing the karaoke 🎤 mamasan he only had 3k baht in his wallet i can imagine she feeling sorry as he was elderly & saying its ok u come back again but if it was a 25yr old man she would think he was trying to pull a fast one on her & gotten the bouncers to rough him up to teach him a lesson 😮 age matters here lol 😂

Ask as a Thai person. Why do old men or retired men like to come to live at nightlife or one night stand in Thailand such as Pattaya and like to marry Thai women to start a family? Why not find women in your country and spend some time there? I saw a lot of couples here.

Perhaps they're fed up of bitter, twisted, Western women with a chip on their shoulder and prefer beautiful Asian women. As long as these guys are not hurting anybody I don't see why you or anybody else would have a problem with them enjoying their retirement.

western woman at 40 looks 50, Asian woman at 40 looks 30... but it's also culture and it's got a lot worse in western society.. western women have become entitled... they expect men to lay down so they can walk all over them... and when this does not happen, they cry "there are no men".. hence a lot of single older women in western countries all running around saying how bad men are... but then I am not talking about Asian women found in bars or looking for one night stands... I would also ask, why do jealous Asian men so often murder their ex ? maybe you could answer me, why are there beautiful Asian girls in bars who want to go with an old western man for a one night stand ??? why don't they go off with a nice Asian guy ?

The girls are usually petite, irresistibly endearing & feminine in the nicest way & so appeal to the male instinct to help & protect (amongst other things) the so-called "weaker" sex! But appearances can be deceptive, especially if you have money to burn & a thirst for alcohol. People shouldn't presume that all the Thai girls are all poor & struggling to make ends meet. I reckon in the pre-Covid days some of the stunners were making 40,000 baht a month from their aerobics & their "overseas donations" from wishful thinkers.
