Thanks Rudy, so educational. Wow! In dog grooming school, I always had the quick stop ready. Excellent video.

Hi Rudy, thank you for taking the time to make this useful video while moving the store. What if the nails are super solid black? How can you tell which type of vein/nail it is? Thank you

So glad to have found your channel. I have a beautiful very sensitive mini schnauzer who unfortunately had a bad experience with a groomer and grooming our little guy has been a struggle. He hates leashes/harnesses, loud noises, power tools, scissors, water etc all because of that experience. We are getting him comfortable with grooming now but omg the nail trimming😝. Both my husband and I are so afraid of hurting him and tend to let his nails grow too long. Your video on how to trim nails has helped tremendously and he getting comfortable with it. Unfortunately using a dremmel is out of the question because he begins to shake terribly and tries to climb up into my neck he so frightened. Anyhow thank you for your videos. We need more groomers like you.

I have a mini poodle and a mini schnauzer and their nails are very different. The schnauzer has much thicker nails that tend to get blunt at the end when overgrown, whereas the poodle’s nails naturally seem to grow thinner and more pointed at the end. I think the schnauzer’s nail may be a bit of the dagger type.

My dog is a pittie mix and she has the all-consuming nail. I totally hate doing her nails they always look way too long, and I feel very bad about it. And she just likes it as well.

My dog has straight nails. I’ve never seen a dog with nails like that. He’s also a rescue.

Dear Rudy, I sent you a Facebook message about a family members dog. The family member has been dealing with recurring cancer for a couple years and it had slipped their mind to take care of their pup's nails. Really would like to try and get his overgrown/ingrown nails trimmed for him as he is quite an old pup and even has vision issues so I'd like for him to at least be able to walk comfortably. Thank you in advance.

My dog has that big ol' all consuming nail. It really freaking sucks to try to get his nails trimmed, and I've had to just rely on only using grinders for his nails. Its also really suck because I cant bring his nail back at all so theyre always just touching the ground and I don't know what to do about it :( I try to take a bit off every single week but it just feels kind of hopeless.

You are doing the right thing, sometimes all you can do is some grinding here and there,so as to not hurt them..Thank you so much for your input, and for watching us..

I needed to cut into the quick of my poodles nails. He always fights me clipping and I clip very little then as to not hurt him. His nails are BLACK. It seems like all his nails are “all consuming “ nails. His nails got very long in the end so I needed to go into the vein. Used quick stop. Did I do ok? He is alive. What else could I do? When my dog was younger I used to have him professionally groomed. She would not do the nails. Maybe because his nails are all consuming. So I had to learn to do it myself. I don’t know how else to do it.
