Agreed. The little animated interstitials were kind of cute, and even the jokey words popping up (emulsion blender, FAIL, etc), but all of the little emoji-style stuff was just way too much and distracting. Hope they tone it down for future releases.

Loved all the recipes!! Just an editing note, I'm personally not a fan of the hyper edited video style, I think it's a little cheesy and distracting but of course that's just me. I love your authentic, homecooked style of cooking and I don't really think you need all the editing to display that.

I absolutely love your videos. Just adding my 2cents. I know this 15mins series is all about fast and simple and the editing style is probably trying to reflect that, but.... I'm watching these as a hyper stressed mommy, trying to drag myself out of bad cooking habits, and a slower editing style helps my brain take in more information. Images that move too fast makes me want to click off. But still love the channel!!!!!

Hi Mike! I've been watching since you and Josh did the college lunch series in the NYC apartment. I'm a huge fan of the 15 minute meals! As a bit of very VERY humble feedback (you've worked your a** off for a very long time to manage a very successful channel and I'm nothing but a South American home cook), I feel the quick-cuts and tiktok vibe in the video makes it a lot harder to follow (both while cooking and when just trying to get the idea behind the recipe by watching the video) I think the level of detail you gave in your sandwich series or even the college meals series was a lot more inspiring to home cooks and people that never touched a saucepan. Anyways, love your content! Thanks for sharing this with all of us

Love your content man, you taught me and impreoved my cooking skills a lot. And I understand that making a video that will appease the YT algorithm is tough, and you want high production in your videos, but as some other people pointed out - there begins to be too much cuts and animations. Cooking content works better with a bit of a calmer atmosphere

My absolute favorite thing about your videos is how you impart good, concise information without the unnecessary "Tiktok BANG POW" overlays. We are here for you, your food, and your down-to-earth style. It is the reason I like you over people like Joshua Weissman. You focus on the food and the techniques. Not the bullshit.
@AlanLamb11

Yep, 90% of the time I prefer to read my information since I can get what I need without a bunch of extra annoying stuff. TikTok has made the trend of blah engagement bait worse, maybe attention spans are even shorter than 5 years ago? Anyway- there are a handful of youtube channels that actually give concise information with minimal distractions, occasional humor, and reliable relatability.

@@sebastianaristegui1397 The soup is Texmex. I know were the first tortilla soup was served and it was in Texas. The tostada is from Baja. The egg dish I will try but I would not call it Huevos Ranchero. What makes it Huevos Ranchero is the Ranchero sauce. Salsa doesn't make it Huevos Rancheros. Caesar Salad is technically Mexican. The hard shell taco is American. Burritos are texmex. Make everything a taco.

Mike, been a fan for a while. Really enjoy the focus and simple quick tips to make my game in the kitchen a step better with each video. I also enjoy watching the videos as my daughter (17) will sit with me and we watch you together. (you will understand what this means to have a 17-year-old sit with you on the couch, later in life) Buddy, you got almost 4 million subscribers because of your clear no-nonsense style and likeable personality. Your practicality and to the point style won me over. Please drop the animations and go careful with the advertising of the store. Once in a while, okay, but this has been coming for many videos now and this one here was rather extreme. Please reconnect with the original Mike we know and 3.59million of us want to continue seeing. Looking forward to the next one. Please keep up the great work you are doing! I dont think Josh ever claimed these were authentic Mexican dishes. However, they are probably a lot closer to what a Mexican mother might pluck out of the garden and cook up using whatever fresh local ingredients she had vs the crappy taco bell style midwestern or "Tex Mex" interpretation that gets passed off as "Mexican" so often.

@@nancyenkelmann7801 not necessarily, especially since he doesn't seem to be counting "preptime" or pre-work. You can fry chicken pieces in 15 minutes easily if they're soaked and ready. Hey. Those meals looked delicious. I'm trying to imagine the flavors. I'm going to store here shortly and now thinking I want to try the soup & shrimp tostadas. I need to use my tomatoes before the frost arrives. So how long you had your lemon tree growing before it started making lemons ? I have two lemon trees going for the first time so I'm excited to one year perhaps taste my own fruit, hah haa. You got me hungry. Thanks 👍

Weirdest tortilla soup recipe that I’ve ever seen… but willing to try it. Although I think it definitely won’t beat the original recipe 🤤

"..roasted tomatoes with, oh, you son of a..." Sounds like me in the kitchen all the time! In all seriousness, when I get in a hurry, I fling avocadoes, try to pick up hot pans, etc. At some point, you decide, "Ok, I'll take 16 minutes to make this instead of 15." I love that you grow and produce some of your own veggies and eggs (and maybe chicken). I do the same, minus the chickens, as we're not allowed to have them in my neighborhood.

Love the video, I am salivating just watching you cook. I love the chickens, and all the fresh veggies just outside your door. I grew a few eggplants that I just picked, will try air frying some coin size slices.

The new format is a little disorienting but it reminds me how much you need to bring your brother in for a guest spot. Your bro and you have a synergy that is next level.

I remember watching you and Josh many years ago. Your videos was so wholesome back then. Especially one clip with Josh smoking a chillum and playing Mario cart while you guys ate was so great. I still enjoy and learn a lot (maybe even more than before) from your videos, but man back then it really hit with a different, chill and wholesome vibe. I guess we all grow up tho, and I hope Josh did too and that he is well :)

whoever is doing the editing needs to cool off the Adderal, so much shit going on it actually takes quite a lot away from the video tbh Mike. Just some honest feedback because your videos are sincerely some of the best cooking ones out there

I'm an east coaster as well and I love my potted Meyer lemon 🍋....for anyone who wants to grow Meyers (and I think this applies to most citrus) get a grafted tree from a nursery. It will produce fruit within a year or two whereas growing from seed requires 7+ years (give or take)
