The reason why he could sing like that is because he liked to play with his voice a lot when he was in the church choir as a kid, he used to drive his teacher crazy.

With Axl’s vox, I can hit the notes just fine (the high ones anyways) but it’s the sustain that gets me for some of them like the TWAT or IRS F#5 The G5s in Back in the Saddle are easier for me just because they don’t sustain as long. An absolutely legendary singer that can’t be replaced

Hi, I just subscribed to your channel specifically because you are showcasing All Rose- best singer of all ti e, living or dead. Now I'm watching as many videos as I can and showing them to my friends. I am so impressed with your knowledge about this subject and you are doing a great job explaining to people like me who know nothing about octaves and keys, etc. So thank you for letting me appreciate Axl even more, something I didn't think was possible. I'll never forget when Appetite for Destruction came out in 1987- I was 13 or 14 & my best friend and I bought the record and went to his house and put it on. It was a life-changing moment for both of us- we hardly said a word as we listened to every song on both sides of the album. The way Axl sang (We were also astonished by Duff & Slash's talent, but it was All Rose, that inimitable voice, that engendered absolute loyalty to the Axl & the band; to this day I can't listen to anyone criticizing him without getting extremely defensive. Their music changed my life and the lives of my friends. I've seen them live several times & they were all amazing, especially the last time I saw them live in 2015. He sang the best then, his voice was almost indistinguishable from the records. So thank you again and please do more videos of Axl! I do have a friendly request/xuggestion that would mean a so much to me. I am awestruck by the high notes in Rocket Queen, Think about you, and Civil War. I'd love to hear your analysis on those songs, if you haven't already done them yet. Thank you again- keep up the great work!

Still haven't wathced the video but as an Axl fan I'll tell you there's this song called "Prostitute" from the album Chinese Democracy, and as far as I know they've only played it live TWICE. Doing high notes like that constantly with belts or chest can wear down your voice after some time. So it would make sense if he would use safer techniques to do those notes or dodge them to not blow out his voice. If you do them so much to the point your voice is blown out serious consequences can happen.

I think a lot of vocalists do this…they hit the studio on their best days, but don’t (always) reproduce the performance… Brent Smith is notorious for this…I love the guy’s voice, and I have no problem with him making sure he doesn’t trash it singing night after night…but it is a bit of a let down when your favorite parts are modified for live performances…or someone else in the band just sings certain parts…

I listen to extreme metal and it's hard to find any Cattle Decapitation's live where the vocalists does all the screams as brutally as he does them in the studio because of all the vocal layers they used in the studio version. So live it sounds boring/dull and thin since there aren't any vocal layers to support it and makes the live version unlistenable. Other than that, my favorite singers do great live.

These notes are relatively easy for a person that can mix correctly and go into a semi-falsetto mix... the hard part is making them sound "large" and "big", and Axl was pretty good but I've personally known many other singers that are WAY better, both live and in studio... but still this is because Axl is a bass and cannot make very high full sounds... however the real HARD part is to mix with every vowel in the passaggio point and making it seem like one real connected voice. I, as a baritone, can scream up to C#5 with a full sound and heavy distortion, and after that I have to make the sound really small, but I can go up to G5 no problem with that, and that is connected. Its not hard once you've figured out mix and head voice, but I really suck at the mid range notes and closed vowels. Singing high isn't remarkable, but singing high AND full is.

@TheAftermath
@TheAftermath 2 жыл бұрын
@@luzdaviola wait... Axl is incredible. You misinterpreted my message, you can look up my KZbin channel, I love Axl and Guns n' Roses. Axl has got a crazy range, nasty screams and stamina and with GnR he created some of the best songs in the world in my opinion. His voice is definitely iconic and he is a REALLY good singer... however there are many people (and many that I personally know) that are tecnically and talent-wise better, that have better technique and better voices that can reach really high notes in a very "full" way. Here in Italy where I live, Cesena (the town where Rocking1000 was born, maybe you saw the popular video, i've played there) there are many underground bands with crazy singers, but sadly R&R today has become something "underground" and many bands that would be have been famous in the 80's today aren't emerging because it lost popularity. Maneskin also from Italy helped a little bit in this period to bring rock back... in a sense, a little bit haha
@luzdaviola
@luzdaviola 2 жыл бұрын
@@TheAftermath I wasn't implying that I thought you didn't like Axl. Just making the comment that Axl had incredible charisma in his performances as well as vocal ability. His voice suited what he sang about too. Technical brilliance and ability doesn't necessarily equate to being a great musician or songwriter. I also don't know many vocalists that can run round as much a she did and still sing like that. Do you? As a singer yourself, how hard is it to do what he did? That is a serious question. I play guitar myself and can't really sing that well Haha! With singing it's more about conviction as well as ability. My parents are from Calabria. I was born and live in Western Australia. Maneskin are ok but I think a lot of rock bands these days have about as much "edge" as a soccer ball! Haha! Anyway, forza Italia!
@TheAftermath
@TheAftermath 2 жыл бұрын
@@luzdaviola completely agree, ahaha, Regarding how difficult it is, it is insanely difficult. The hardest part isn't only stamina, but is maintaining a good technique and not to shout while you move, and I definitely cannot do that haha, I know some singers that could, but not at Axl's level, in that sense he was fenomenal
