How about an Omega with a counter for the current number of special editions? Or maybe a Patek that measures how worthy the next generation that you’re looking after it for is? Personally however, a style meter that assesses how good your dog looks in any given hat would be the killer app.

As a fast jet pilot, a watch that tells altitude is useful. What it tells me is not what altitude my aircraft is at, but what my cabin altitude is. This can tell me if my pressurization system is working correctly. Although my particular aircraft does already provide that information, there are others that don't. This could avoid problems like those you spoke about from divers rising in the water, decompression sicknesses happen in the air too.

Breitling Emergency with a 121.50 MHz transmitter and antenna... ( BTW: The Oris Altimeter Pilot is more for hobby pilots flying VFR flights in unpressurized aircraft... you typically need oxygen above 10,000 feet altitude. but a commercial pilot could still wear it as a backup systems check to so that the aircraft's onboard pressurization system was pressurizing to the required 8000ft. ) Love that Oris Diver. Very practical.
@scottcrawford37454 жыл бұрын
@fullmetaljaco Thanx, I'll look it up. Owned and wore one for a few years back when I was a bush pilot in Northern Canada. Flew a lot in the " Sparsely settled" zone and always kept backup items on board...Just wished the battery duration on the transmitter was longer.. It could take a while for S & R to get a fix on your location, and a lot of nothern Manitoba and Saskatchewan is notoriously flat for getting a signal out. to any distance. It was a very decent pilot's watch.. just Big and Heavy...Like a pilot's ego.
@scottcrawford37454 жыл бұрын
@fullmetaljaco Nope. Never crashed or had to use it... Found out the hard way though, that the antenna, which is the large screw on the side below the setting crown is about 1m long and a Real pain in the ass to get back in the little hole. It runs separately on a Li-ion 4.2 V, 1.1 Ah cell... about 18 hours worth of juice. None of the planes I flew for work were worth " millions". I Type-rated on a few though that were i.e. Cessna Caravan and DeHavilland Twin otter. Mostly flew Cessna 185's and 206's on floats for fishermen and hunters .

@boga924 жыл бұрын
Nice video, and nice watches. But with a couple of mistakes, regarding the speech during the Oris Depth Gauge. First, scuba divers breath air (or mixed gases), during our dives. Breathing pure oxygen will kill us if we dive deeper than six meters. Second, you mix decompression sickness with narcosis, and they are not related at all. The first one is caused (as you say) by the nitrogen bubbles that can appear in tour blood if you surface too early (or too fast) after your dive. Narcosis is caused purely by the depth (it changes, depending on de diver's conditions), and it's not affected by the time you are at that depth. And the effects are absolutely different from those from the decompression sickness. Talking about the Oris watch, it uses a too simple (and not enough accurate) way of measuring the depth. Because of Boyle Mariotte's law, the bubble doesn't keep the same distance between the shallow meters than with the deep meters (where mistakes can be much riskier). The bubble is also very tiny, and quite difficult to see. By the way, the watch is quite nice. I always use, as a backup of my dive computer, a dive watch with a depth gauge. But I use an ana-digi Citizen Aqualand watch. I find it much more reliable than the Oris (although, it's not mechanical,.....who cares, deep down?)

@cedshred16764 жыл бұрын
For recreational diving you actually don’t need a dive computer or a watch. You’re always close to a dive buddy and are near the divemaster. The rest of your group isn’t too far off. Don’t go deeper than anyone in your group and pay attention to your air and you’ll be fine. If you get separated from everyone you don’t need a computer or watch either, as the protocol is to look for your buddy for 1 minute, then surface. Ascend well slower than your bubbles and you’ll be fine. Serious divers doing sketchy things, like cave diving or deep wreck penetration will wear two computers and have other safety gear.

As a commercial truck driver in the US, I think the altimeter function of the Oris is better suited... for me)) Interstate 70 through Colorado takes me to 11000 ft (Eisenhower Tunnel). Also in Colorado, Monarch Pass on US-50 gets to 11312 ft. Conveniently, my cabin is not pressured, and I can always roll down the windows 😜 I will think about getting this Oris 🤔 p.s. And yes, as others here had mentioned, this watch is designed not for "fast jet" pilots, but helicopter pilots.
