There are 3 expats that I know personally here. 2 are going broke or having money issues due to the female and her brood. One guy is almost completely bankrupt, supporting his wife's 4 kids, paying for their college, and even for her parents, which stay with them. He can't say 'no' to her financial requests. Another, recently went into hock paying for a wedding for his spouse's daughter, and now she, her husband, and new baby are staying with them. Finally, a the third guy, also married a widow with 4 kids, most younger, is supporting them, and I haven't heard much from them one way or another. Guys, PLEASE, what are we DOING, and AGREEING TO!?

No woman or her family are worth a man being bled out financially. Men just say no. You have to work for money, never give it away to freeloaders.

A fellow I work with used to go to The Philippines every winter and he always used to talk about how he was going to retire soon and move there to live a dream life in paradise. Luckily for him, he wasn't able to retire as soon as he wanted so he got to spend several winters there before taking the plunge. Well, he never did take the plunge because he ended up getting sick of the place and all of the leeches trying to separate him from his money. I had expressed some interest in going just to see the place and he gave me one piece of advise. He said go to a pawn shop and buy a cheap wedding band and wear it while you're there. He said that way, there's a lot better chance the leeches will leave you alone.

Wow what a story. I'm planning to settle somewhere in South America before it gets crazier in the states. Unfortunately people are becoming frustrated and angrier due to politics and the deterioration of the American dream. But I am planning for a short time to go to the Philippines or Thailand just for the ego boost because I know many guys that went down there and experience that attention.

I'm not married, and don't wanna be! Getting a wedding band before traveling is great advice! I'm gonna do that!!
@wannabemgtow254010 ай бұрын
@@SteelerY360Nation I don't think you need a wedding band all you have to do is remember to say no. It ain't like you meet a girl in the US and you like her and it doesn't work out and then you have to wait a couple years to mean another girl, over there is a totally different story you probably can meet a girl everyday.

People go places as a tourist and think the day to day is the same. Forget The Philippines. Pick Florida. You, maybe you and your wife. You go to Florida every winter. Condo, 2 or 3 weeks. Eating out. Sunny weather. You go home. It's cold and gray. You retire. Immediately load the van and move to Florida. You aren't living like a tourist anymore. You never lived in summer in Florida. You find out that the other 3 seasons of the year aren't for you. I've probably known 5 or 6 people that ended up moving back to New England after moving to Florida, based on a very narrow view of Florida. Anywhere. Try different seasons. Try extended stays. Live like a local and not like a tourist. Is it fun and interesting now? Or relatively mundane and nothing special.

Guys listen up. Reekay is trying to help. He has seen and heard all these stories. Stay with your budget and learn to say No. Slow slow down. Meet in person otherwise you really don't know this person. Make No major decisions for the first year. Have your income streams in place before coming. Stop your Knight in shining armor attitude. Watch out for the land sharks and a lot of them live online ie dating sites. Don't send money. Great advice, you just need to apply it.

Two ways to make money ; 1) A Man at work 2) Money at work # 1 is not possible because Expats are not allowed to work there . # 2 … you better have a lot of capital working at good returns OR a lot of pension income !! Think Guys with your big Head !

It depends on a connections. And where. Or have your own business restaurant most likely. Other options like a Digital Nomad. There are creative ways.I once was asked, can you be hired for work in the Philippines? I had to think about it. Most likely not.. But I have been working overseas as a U.S contractor for over 6 years and previous years in the U.S. Then comeback home to the Philippines. If a foreigner is qualified to work for Raytheon example its possible.The research is out there.

Good advise, I was an expat in my own birth country where I met my current wife who was a "spendaholic and a leach. I kept saying "NO and she hated it and we kept braking up and getting back together, 11 years past and she is almost as stingy as I am now, LoL - She still hates it when I say NO, which my favorite word to say. Women can and will change, if not, they get left behind. But she has to know how fast you can replace her, if it comes down to it. I was in her country for years with no income and was doing fine. Always had enough for a plane ticket or a surprise expense. Had my credit card + cash on me. Golden rule #1 Never ever reveal your true financial worth to anyone, Look average and blend in. Don't try to look and act like big-shot, trying to look super rich, It's the fastest way to go broke..

Yes. I hear of so many expats who heard that the cosy of living here is low, and who then think they can live here for the rest of their lives on $20,000 or $30,000. Did these people not do the basic arithmetic? This size next egg divided by so much per month? If you had enough that you could invest it and live on the profitd, ok. Like if you figured, I have $500,000, I invest it in the stock Market and make 5% per year, that comes to $25,000 per year or a little over $2000 per month, so ill budget $2000 per month and I can live on that half million forever. plaudible. But thinking your going to live on $20k or $30k forever ... The math just doesn't work.

Yeah I can see that. In America even having what we call so-called money is still not enough to even have a companion in your life. I know plenty of guys that are doing really well have their own home and running some type of business still cannot find a romantic relationship. So when they go to a country that the females are attentive to them it's too much and they can't handle it.

Is it customary for a guy who is a Filipina's boyfriend or husband to pay the parents a monthly income or is it a personal decision to pay the parents so much per month?
@Lifebeyondthesea6 ай бұрын
the general 'rule' is to at least contribute what she would be contributing if she had not met you, which is usually around $200/month for the average filipina salary.

Your timeline on $25,000 is not realistic. You have to have $5000 in start up money, to buy a scooter and first and last month rent plus security deposit and $5000 in an emergency fun in case you have to leave the Philippines for any reason or a medical emergency. It is possible to live on $1,000 a month but to live well you need $2,000 a month. So $10,000 is spoken for that leaves you $15,000 as soon as you get a girlfriend you’re going to have to spend at least $1,200 probably $1,500 a month if you go anywhere or do anything . You forgot the plain ticket to get there at least $1,000. On $25,000 you could realistically spend 10 months in the Philippines. You need a passive income of at least $2000 a month if you want to live in the Philippines that’s why young women date retired much older men because they have a pension or some other kind of passive income. Younger men get them pregnant and then go home again and they have had enough of that.

I can’t see giving more than 10 to 15 % of your monthly budget to your spouse. You are already paying housing and all the bills, electric, water, phone, internet, and food…. So giving some but not even close to 50% if your income is enough. She can help her family and not come back for more. She can get her clothes shoes and what nots on her budget. You pay more than she could make working there then you’re probably paying to much. I’m thinking you have a SS income of $1,800 or more minimum to consider giving that 10-15%. That’s a good monthly stipend all things considered. She doesn’t need to work and has plenty since you pay the bills. I could pay that much and still save money every month. But I have a good monthly income by Philippine standards. Now if only Medicare would pay expat medical in the Philippines 🇵🇭 hays not to be, yet….

No. If she asks for big chunks of money then she is a sneaky parasite. Same if her relatives ask for money and she knows that and she does not stop them or she doesn't tell her boyfriend not to give them money at very least. There is no reason to excuse them just because this is a different country "with its own dynamics". I mean one needs to have his own standards and especially so if he considers to get into a serious relationship. Regardless of the country it's his relationship so the standards need to be his. It's just wrong to blame the victim (a man) for being scammed that way - with stories and requests of money by saying that it was his own fault that he gave in. If anything like that happens it is a strong red flag. So instead of just saying "no" to this and "no" to that and living with her as if it's ok a man should be advised to absolutely stop considering her as his gf and to kick her out of his dwelling or to move out of his rental asap. She is going to cause him problems, she can't even play a long game in the market that is clearly not in her favor, that says something about her.
