Hello! I have an editing flow for jump cuts that you might want to try (at least to me it seems faster). Instead of selecting the tracks before cutting with CTRL + S and then dragging the track, I find it faster to do it this way: 1- I drag the timeline cursor (note that the timeline cursor has two colors: green and red) always pulling by the green or red part. This creates a selection in the area you want to remove. 2- Simply press CTRL + X (cut) on the selected area. And voilà! Camtasia automatically makes the cut and joins the two cut ends! And even if there are 20 tracks below, it will cut the tracks without having to select them (unless the track is locked).

Hey man! Where's your J & L cut video you mention at the end of this one? I'm trying to figure out how to layer my tracks right when doing them! Thanks!

I haven't created it yet (sorry!) I haven't used J and L cuts that often, as it does take some practice... but the way I would layer it is to put the audio on the bottom, and the video just above... then you simply stagger your cuts. You can actually cut them both at the same place, but then for a J-cut, drag the TOP cut (video) to the right... or for an L-cut drag the top video cut to the left. Typically this works best since your original cut was likely to make sure the audio works... so you likely want to leave the audio alone... and make adjustments to the video part. I hope that helps!

As for the practice part, I think it comes down to making sure you leave some usable video both before and after each segment... so you'd be able to drag the video cut either to the left or right, depending on the effect you're going for.

Thanks for these tips. It shows that we can always learn something new about Camtasia if we're open to it. Have been a long time user but while I fully understand the concept and actually do some of this, your tips reaffirmed what I knew along a new tip. Subscribed and will check out your other videos!

Great video!! Where is the video with the L-cuts and J-cuts??!
@RobtheMaritimer2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I don't have a video specific to L cuts and J cuts at the moment, although I talked about them quite a lot in one of my live streams. I have it on my list of videos to make :-)

Great stuff. New sub. Here's a question that if there's an answer no one has done a video on. HOW do I remove projects from my startup and recent project menu? Once I'm done with a project, I don't want to see it on my menu anymore. I don't know how to remove those. Is there even a way?
@RobtheMaritimer2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the sub! As for your question, I honestly don't know how to remove them from that area. What I can tell you though, is that I ignore that area, always. I never use it. I ALWAYS save my Camtasia projects in folders that I create for my clients, in a "date" sub folder, and the way I save them is by exporting a zip file. That way ALL media files needed for the project are saved in that zip file if I ever need to make edits to it. Sorry that doesn't answer your question, but I hope it helps :-)
