Since I'm up in New England. When we get those 95 degree days. I setup all my gear, food, and my kayak the night before. And I'll pick a lake or resevoir, i've never fished. Just enjoying the whole day, with nowhere to be. Enjoying just the water, scenery, fishing, and my kayak. Pulling off and relaxing for a while taking it all in. True serenity, in that one man vessel, we've setup for ourselves. Great video, love the new kayak.Good luck with her. 🙏 🎣

Thank you sir for this great video and for speaking to the baitcaster question. Point #1 is so important isn’t it. The guides around where I live fish the low tide a lot because the fish aren’t as spread out and are more concentrated. For me I go when I can go. Lol. Thanks again.
@KayakFishingAddict2 жыл бұрын
I appreciate the feedback. Low tide can be good if you know the pockets where they school up. Do those guides use live bait?

@@KayakFishingAddict good point. Yes they do. I never do however. I think we have that in common. Hadn’t thought of that in relation to tide.

Tip #5. A smart man learns from his own mistakes. A wise man learns from the mistakes of others. If you're not catching fish, look at where others are fishing (esp if they are anchored and catching fish), and inquire on what they are using and their presentation. Many are happy to share their successes for you to emulate.

Thank you KFA! Great video as always. At least half if not more of my yak setup is based on learning from your channel. I use bait casters for fishing LMB, but now I’m considering changing to bait casters for my inshore fishing as well. Please keep the videos coming. Unfortunately it’s too cold here in Maryland to kayak fish right now.

I refer to “honey holes” because it’s been the generic term I was raised on lol I do have specific spots I frequently target,based strictly off of structure,water movements,and past success because it is just a prime example of all the great points you made about the predator fish and how they function. If I find myself forgetting that everyday is different,wanting to get to those spots just because of past experiences, and I’ve caught a skunk or two lol having the compass has made my trips so much easier,so I’ve been able to break some bad habits lol

A tip I learned the hard way is to put down that “ol’ faithful” if it ain’t working lol. So many times my friends would be catching fish on different lures while I was too stubborn to switch; also, always make sure you don’t have a follower before you go burning your bait back to the kayak! Especially true for big swimbaits!
@KayakFishingAddict2 жыл бұрын
Two great tips. Thanks for sharing. That burning back the bait with a follower has caused me a few fish!
@sgbawg02 жыл бұрын
Tip #4. Watch for birds (ospreys and Pelicans). They are more efficient at catching fish than we are. If there are no bird activity where you are, odds are fishing in that location might be poor.

I normally do 2 hours before and after both tides I adjust the way I fish according to where the fish will be.

What app do you use to find accurate tide location where your fishing. Local to your area and whenever I look areas up they don't seem accurate once I get there.
@KayakFishingAddict2 жыл бұрын
Tide Alert is one. Nautide is another. The bouy location may be further away from your fishing location and you also have to account for that. Finally the wind also can have an impact. It’s not an exact science.

Question for you having owned both the Compass and Outback now. Do you think the Outback is a wetter ride then the Compass?
@KayakFishingAddict2 жыл бұрын
Hi Joanne, good question. I would call them both “slightly wet rides”, but the Outback bow does allow more water to splash over it than the Compass’ bow.
@joannericci59812 жыл бұрын
@@KayakFishingAddict thank you. I have the same Blue Compass you had. Would like to upgrade it to the 180 drive. I also have PA12. Compass is my grab and go, easy to paddle when necessary. @@joannericci5981 You've got a great kayak there. I assume you don't have kickup fins with that boat? They didn't come with it prior to 2020. @OldLadyAngler is great, she's helped me out with GoPro issues. She even fishes saltwater from time to time too.
Your tip on waiting to set the hook until you feel the fish is dead on the money. This is particularly true when fishing topwater. If you strike at the sound, rather than the actual pull, you'll miss 90% of the fish. Wait until you feel the fish.
@KayakFishingAddict2 жыл бұрын
I’ve missed a lot of fish on top trying to set the hook on the strike! It’s just too exciting when they smash it. The key is to wait until you feel the fish!

Recently found your channel and enjoying your content especially since I have a home in Port Orange and now starting to kayak fish down there. Mainly been in the Spruce Creek area but will be trying the area around the Port Orange ramp. Picking up my new Compass next week to keep down there so I don’t have to transport my Outback from LI. Question, what model Garmin are you using? I’m looking at the Echomap Plus 44cv for the new yak.
@KayakFishingAddict2 жыл бұрын
Welcome to the channel and thanks for your comment. I'm using the regular striker 4. As I fish in 1-3' of water normally the "finder" aspect of a fish finder is pretty useless as the transducer needs several more feet of water to actually find fish. I use it mainly for navigation/GPS so that I have a redundant solution to find my way out of a marsh system. My phone is my backup. Congrats on the Compass! It's a nice boat...
@LI-FLKayakFisherman2 жыл бұрын
Ditto your thoughts on the FF capabilities in shallow water. I have the Striker Vivid 4cv on my Outback and Passport but leaning towards the Echomap since I’m not familiar with the waters down there and I figured it could supplement the Navionics app on my phone. Looking forward to the Compass as it has almost as many features as the Outback but almost 20# lighter and the new model has the kick up fins that will help with the oyster beds I often encounter 😉. Thanks!

@@LI-FLKayakFisherman You're going to love that boat. I discuss why I chose the Outback over it - kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJmlkKKbnr6jqLM - but my situation is different than yours... you already have an Outback :). The good news is that you'll be able to use the drive in your Outback if you have an older model!
@LI-FLKayakFisherman2 жыл бұрын
Yep, I have a fully rigged 2019 Outback and it’s perfect for the LI coastal waters where I normally fish. Just a royal pain to keep transporting back and forth to FL, especially in the winter. So the new drive is compatible along with my Bixpy drop in Mirage adapter. The Hobie Compass power pole adapter has been back ordered for months with no ETA so I’m working on fabricating a mount that I can use with my Bixpy stern mount from the Outback. I intend to power coat the mount to match the Seagrass green. Maybe I’ll see you on the water!
