Hi, Deirdre, I am a high-school teacher (ages 14-17), and my students have been noticing the change in my fashion choices since I began watching your KZbin channel. Re: Vivaia. I recently bought a pair of slingbacks and a pair of kitten heel closed shoes, both to wear with formal office wear. The slingbacks are incredibly comfy even tho I had ordered a half size down. The closed heels were less so but by the time I needed to change, on the first wearing, I had worn them for 7.5 hours. I thought that was good for someone who lives in Florida and lives in slides, flip flops or sneakers/trainers most of the time. Personally, I was glad of a Deirdre discount. Some things work on recommendation, some don’t. That’s my experience with Vivaia.

Thanks for your video! I am hoping you can give me a suggestion for a brand of jeans? My waist is bigger than in proportion to my hips. 32” waist and 36” hips. So if I get them to fit my hips they are too tight and give me a serious muffin top! To top it off I have no waist………. Would love some suggestions!!!

Hi there. I’m not sure where you live, but brands like Good American are great if you’re in the US, for all sizes and shapes. Levi’s of course, are brilliant for all shapes and are available internationally. I often buy from them. Shape-wise, bootcut would be super-flattering for you and would really balance your silhouette. I hope this helps. Xx

I prefer dark-wash jeans also because they don’t look as casual as faded ones, which have all those faded, worn seams and those highlighted patches. I also like white or cream colored jeans. As a petite, those baggy or barrel jeans don’t flatter my figure, I agree. (The barrel ones look great on tall, slim women, but I’m not a fan of the super-baggies on any figure). I like straight jeans (501s), bootcut or flared-leg ones best. I’m just glad we have such a variety of styles to choose from now after 20 years of mid-rise skinnies only, which I never liked that much, they don’t stay up well on my straight figure, for one thing. I don’t wear much denim because I don’t like the fabric and can’t get a decent fit, my hips and thighs are too narrow. But, there is nothing more stylish and flattering, when I do find good ones.

I like the styling tips, but over half the video is an ad for Vivaia, which I don’t like. Their woven plastic footwear is hot, sweaty and tight, and they look cheap, especially with those molded plastic heels, so I’ll stick with leather. I bought two pairs of shoes from Vivaia, but sold them on after one wearing, they’re not comfortable and don’t have that quality look.

I do want to look slimmer, especially at this time of year, my fattest. Summer weather is too hot to take my daily, long, exercise walks as I do the rest of the year. My weight is generally a healthy normal one, (125 lbs.), but I do feel a bit pudgy this autumn, I’ll be at my thinnest in late spring after six months of walking. I always want to look taller, too, I’m sensitive about my height loss, two inches since young adulthood! I wasn’t all that tall to start with, and too-long clothes, with too-wide shoulders, have always been a problem. As much as I love UK brands, they are made even longer and for bigger frames. I’m the average height of us American women, 5’4”. The average dress size here is now a shocking US16/UK20, up a full size from 15 or so years ago. We really need to eat healthier and exercise more, it’s adversely affecting the general health of our population.

Hi! I love your videos -- I have friends in England and your accent makes me miss them! I just thought I would add that being short and also somewhat short-waisted, I have found that tops NOT tucked in work best for me. Tucked in tops create that horizontal line, and seem to make me look not only shorter, but wider. Tops also need to be more fitted, and hit at the hipbone or so to make me look slimmer and taller. Also, tops that are very long, such as tunics, make me look short and dumpy. I'm looking forward to more of your videos. You are so much fun to watch!
