Don’t use adapters they’ll cause a usb failure and freeze up your computer (MacBook with Touch Bar) get the last option. Direct cable with no adapters

If you do not have enough USB ports, you'll need to use a USB hub, preferably a powered one. You'll also need a USB-C to HDMI adaptor for the video out.

Hi Phil, I just bought a new Macbook Pro 2021. Like you already know there's only 2 USB Spot. But because I am always DJJing with also a External Drive, i miss one USB port on the Mac. I tried one multiple block port (usb B to C) for one but it doesn't work for the Controler (Numark Platinum FX). One for the controller, one for the external drive and one for the power. Did you ever or someone of your staff used a multiple block port that work properly ? thanks and advance !

So I’ve got the ddj-200, does it connect to a MacBook Air or not? Because I’ve got one wire powering the controller going into the usb of it then one other slot that has a padlock sign next to it with ‘k’ inside of it. What usb goes from the MacBook to the controller?

Hello, random question please: I have just purchased the macbook pro 2017 with touch bar and I have the complete rane 72 and 12 setups like you do back there... waiting 4 d laptop to get to me but I really am worried cus I was in a hurry wen I ordered and what is being sent to me is a 250gb space. Now I do want to use it alone for djing, nothing else. But I just want to know, if since u have had yours, is it better overall that the older mac laptops? Even tho my old one has more storage and I don't know much about high sierra OS and all... and also thanks for this video.

SSD drives like on your new Mac are better, also long as you can keep your collection nice and lean (which is best anyway, in our view) you'll be fine.

i have the 72 and 12 combo.. what a mission it was to get it going with my 2018 6 core bought 2 non powered hubs and got software disconnects and digit sound tracks when played..... i bought a Caldigit TS3 powered hub... everything is fine... you can also buy an 1tb ssd and put it in a usb 3.1 enclosure...

Hello Everyone! I have a question. I currently have the same issue. My laptop has a Usb-c port, but my controller connects through a Usb-a port. I have a hub that allows me to connect Usb-a wires without any problems. However, when I connect my controller to the hub, and my controller to my speakers, no audio is played. Reading through Pioneer's FAQ's, I read that the controller I have, is incompatible with hubs. My question is, will buying an adapter resolve this issue, or is an adapter also considered a "hub?" I'd recommend you just get the correct lead so no need to use hubs, adaptors at all. That will almost certainly work fine.

Hoping you can help me out here: I own an Mid 2012 MacBook air that I do everything on; because I'm a podcast producer for my job, I also use Reaper (DAW) on this laptop all the time. Works greaT, no issues. But now, I am learning how to DJ and about to buy the pioneer DDJ 400 controller, which is USB powered so I am wondering since my laptop is already 7 yrs. old and used heavily for audio editing, will it be able to hand being used for DJing? Obviously, I would never be running the Reaper DAW at the same time as I'd be using the controller with Rekordbox software, but I'm just wondering your expert opinion on this- can it power the pioneer ddi 400 controller, and not overheat? Im on a budget so hoping to not have to buy a new laptop till next year when I can save up....Thanks in advance!

Rekordbox works on both Windows and Mac, not sure about Windows 7. Check on the Rekordbox technical page on the Pioneer DJ website to be sure.

Wouldn't recommend those little black adapters, they have disconnected during sets on their own. But one time I actually had someone catch their arm on the cable while dancing and bent the port haha

Hey wondering if anyone can help... I just bought a new Mac book air and bought the Apple USB to usb c adapter. When I plug it in the controller gets power but serato no longer automatically pops up like it used to on my old Mac and this is the only way I can activate serato? Have tried restarting no luck

Hey Charlotte! Might be a compatibility issue with the USB C adapter. I suggest sending a support ticket to Serato detailing the problem :)
