How to DJ for complete beginners! In this video I explain everything needed to get someone with no prior DJ knowledge or experience off the ground and learn the basics of DJing. Follow along as we learn what DJing is, what equipment is needed, and ultimately the entire beat matching process. At the end of this tutorial, you will be able to mix two songs together live, as if you were a DJ performing a live set in front of a crowd. Huge shoutout to Hercules for sponsoring this video and sending me their DJControl Inpulse 200 controller. If you want an easily affordable DJ controller perfect for beginners and want to follow along with this video, I highly recommend checking out this controller: bit.ly/hercules-djcontrol-inpulse-200

Calling all DJs, i have a question: If i want to start DJing, Do I or should i start with beginner equipment (like ddj400) or can i immediately learn from high end equipment? Is it better for me to start with something cheap like ddj 400 or can I use something like this or ddj 1000 to start? And why? Can't i start learning the basics on a high end system?

Thank you man! I wish you the best and hope you conquer all your battles in the future. Don’t limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember, you can achieve. We need to accept that we won’t always make the right decisions, that we’ll screw up royally sometimes―understanding that failure is not the opposite of success, it’s part of success.

Beginner DJs, do NOT fade between songs with the crossfader when you start. Use the volume faders instead. Leave the crossfader in the middle. Come back to the crossfader later. It made starting out much easier.
@Nikolay-Shterev Жыл бұрын
why?
@paulybeefs8588 Жыл бұрын
@@Nikolay-Shterev In short, it's easier to make your mix sound better. The cross-fader is basically just a single volume control for both left and right simultaneously, so you can't use it to precisely control the volume of one side without effecting the other. For house and techno, I've only really seen beginners use a crossfader if they were learning since the concept is simple. If you're skilled, the main reason to use a crossfader is to quick-juggle the beats for creative turntablism style hip-hop mixing. Not only is it ergonomically easier to keep your crossfader at center and just use individual volume controls, but you're using the best tools on the board to do it. Having a pair of vertical 3 inch independent volume controls one each side is better than a single horizontal volume control with paired to both sides (ie a crossfader).

Vinyls-to fast-forward or rewind song and for beat matching. How to load on decks: 1. Click & drag the song from library to the decks 2. Adjust the upper middle button to navigate library (you can press it to highlight) and press the load button when ready. Rules of Djing: It's better to choose two songs with similar tempo (speed of the song) or BPM (beats per minutes) Tempo match and beat match.

For being completely self taught, this video is absolutely amazing. Is it the video I would personally want to learn how to DJ with? Honestly, no. HOWEVER, this gives so much concise and detailed information, that this is still an amazing tutorial to learn with. Something I would've gone through is Genres. While yes I understand that a lot of DJ's will mix multiple genres, if you wouldve given an example like house, or dubstep, where a ton of the BPM ranges are the same, it would click with people a lot easier. You could have a song at 130 thats rock and also a song thats 130 thats electronic. They're similar/the same tempo, but they might not work well together for a transition.

Bridget Melendez i think macbooks would be the most ideal
@irift34 жыл бұрын
Hi Bridget, great that you're looking to get your husband into DJing! I'm a mobile DJ and can help out. Macs are generally well known to be best for DJing since they have a less likely hood of crashing during performance. I've been working with the MacBook Pro 13 inch for over 6 years without any issues. If you check the specifications you might find better laptops these days at a cheaper cost than what I paid. Depending on what he intends on using this for, you might want to get a laptop that has a large storage capacity or invest in an external hard drive to hold all of your music. As for the DJ boards themselves, the one mentioned in the video looks good for beginners. My first board that I practiced on was $150. Eventually moved up to 4 figure boards but the one listed here doesn't look too bad. Good luck to you and your husband and hope this helps!
