I’ve got five kids (12-6) and school mornings are hard. It was hectic and stressful. I thought what are the problems and what needs to change. So now I set alarms for set times and at the set times we have a task so wake up, get dressed, breakfast, shoes, bags, leave. This is now passing to the kids because they know that when the alarms go something needs to be done. Also things run more smoothly and ahead of time. Then I thought to change the stress levels for kids before school I play the snoop dog affirmation song and have them dance and sing to get the set for the day then I get them to give me five. I created a give me five so they have to give me five positive things about themselves. Walking to school I say “today is a….” And get them to say something about how great the day is it how beautiful the day is. And then we say hello to all the trees and take in the nature around us. Probably sounds crazy but it works for the us and they have got into the routine of doing it. Sometimes we slip but we get back on track straight away otherwise we’d be off the track forever
