@michaelwiggler511

Meh... it sounds really decent. There are synths that cost half price of sub phatty and sounds the same or even with extra functionality. If you want moog that is moog, sub37 is the one. Mother 32 can join the game.
@blixx87
@blixx87 6 жыл бұрын
MIchael Wiggler can you name the other synths? I’m in the market for one right now. I also checked out the Korg Minilauge
@-RXB-
@-RXB- 6 жыл бұрын
Well no synth really sounds "the same" as a moog. The filter and warmth of moog is not something I've heard any other synth even come close to. I would probably say that moog mother 32 or perhaps a second hand moog of the same pricerange is enough though. More than that is not worth the price at all. I'd rather get for example a moog m32 PLUS several other synths than just one moog.

Or: you could just go ahead, record your knob-twiddling in Ableton and when you're done, check in the MIDI Ctr list of that clip which parameters got automated. Saves you the hassle of finding the synth manual (who knows where they are anyway?).

HI i'm new to ableton and I just got my microbrute which is really awesome and i got that set up.. Line out from microbrute to input 1 roland cakewalk soundcard and midi in from microbrute to midi out soundcard and usb to pc. When I set up my external instrument I can hear the microbrute but when i press play on the track with a midi loop i can't hear it.. I don't know if its clear enough to see the problem I just can t wait to produce with that baby.

I plugged in the midi the exact same way with my subphatty, but it’s not recording the midi when I’m playing it from the synths keyboard , I can only draw it in from ableton via midi track, any reasons why that’s happening?

how can you set this up if your soundcard doesnt have a midi? I am using the uad apollo twin with the sub phatty and ableton. I cant get the midi routing right and when i do it the way you do it in the video my midi is double tapping and out of time. The audio records great. Any suggestions I cant find an answer anywhere? Thanks
@esoteric6178
@esoteric6178 7 жыл бұрын
Mark M mess around with track delay to get the timing right. If the track delays aren't on underneath each track click the little D on the bottom right. This will get your midi in time with the other tracks. Make sure your synth is set up to remotely controlled. Turn off local control. Also session view works poorly for recording instruments. Use arrangement view. Ableton does a much better job there.

For some reason I can't record anything from my Moog. I have my MIDI cables plugged into the back of my MPK49 because my Apollo twin doesn't have MIDI on the back. But should that matter? I can hear the Moog, and I can record the Moog using my MPK49 Keyboard, but not using my Moog's keyboard. And I can't record any knob turnings either unless I go into the clip and manually do it (which I don't like, because I want to do it myself sometimes). Another weird and EXTREMELY annoying thing is, every time I put an effect on the track my Moog is on, the settings on my Moog change, and the sound changes. Every single time. I can take the effect off, put a new effect on, and it will change again. I can't even EQ the sound because whenever I put an EQ on the channel, my Moog's settings change. So basically... I have to get the sound I want, move to my MIDI keyboard and record what I want, or just click in the notes. Then if I want automation, I have to manually do it. Then I have to resample it, and put effects on the resampled version that I'm not able to tweak anymore... It's really time consuming and ridiculous.

+Richard Smith The setting changed randomly when I put effects on the channel cause the MIDI was plugged into my MPK49 for some reason, so I got an iConnectMIDI2. I can record as well now.

Awesome video. Could you do a video or explain how to use multiple control devices in Ableton? I want to use a Tr-8, Apc40 MkII, Beatstep Pro, Mpk49, Akai Advance, and a Push. I can not figure out how to lock a device on a certain channel. I.e. dedicating the Advance to a strings channel and let the push move to channels as needed.

So I guess a problem with using hardware is that since it is audio you can't loop it in a track and play around with the controls on the keyboard like you could with a VST's controls.

So would it be possible to use a midi out from your synth to be able to lay the keys down into ableton without having to manually click the notes into it cuz thats the main things im trying to avoid here. I just want to hit record and play on my syth and have it recorded into ableton as notes so i can quantize them however they need to be, cuz if i record it as just audio the i cant quantize it and ti might sound sloppy if im not perfect

Hey guy I love your videos and I've learned so much from you so thank you for all of your help! I am attempting to send midi information from 3 different controllers and I wanted to know which audio interface you might suggest to do so. I will be using a midi keyboard for live keys, the Akai APC40 for live sampling, and my Moog Sub 37 all in alignment with effects and the masterclock in Ableton. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I'm new to daws so excuse me if my question is silly. I did the exact same setup and created a loop that was sent to my sub phatty via midi. However when I hit recording, all the changes/automations I do to the sound using my hands on fiter, resonance etc cannot be recorded. What's wrong with it?
