I'm new to Studio One and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to send the actual MIDI data to the sequencer from Reason players (ie Polystep, Quad Note etc). All I've been able to do is bounce frozen audio to a track. Any one have any ideas?

Well I know the principle is that you have to record the MIDI data the VST is ‘playing’ into a new note lane. But I haven’t tried it in Studio One myself. Stick around though cause I’m planning on making a few videos about Studio One in the future.

@@matthewstuartnz Thanks brother, great videos by the way. I've been a Reason user for years as well and still adore it, but, I have to say, jumping into S1 has been a quantum leap in almost every way. It's very intuitive and clean. I think you'll love it.

Yea I’ve messed around a little with their free version. Sooo many intuitive features! I think I’ll definitely pick it up if I find myself doing more tracking 👍🏻

@@matthewstuartnz It was an internal midi problem on my end. Got it figured out, it is very very easy to route now and get midi data from all my players. The possibilities are endless now.

hi Dave, im thinking of upgrading my Mac OS to Mac OS mojave. Are you running mojave with reason?

Hey Ivan, I’m running Catalina atm. It works with Reason but has been a nightmare authorising third party VSTs to work. You can, it just takes time cause you have to allow each one. I was on Mojave before this. I’d upgrade to Mojave if you can but I’d suggest holding off on Catalina unless you need to.

@@matthewstuartnz well im on high Sierra and with the computer I have I can only upgrade safely to mojave. I have a 2010 Mac Pro 5,1

Oh yea, I’d definitely upgrade 👍🏻 you’ll have to eventually anyway as software support becomes unavailable.

TheDavidAgenda i want to upgrade even though nothing is wrong technically it’s that my 2010 Mac Pro is holding me back. I just wish I had enough money to buy the Mac Pro and I’d be all set. But I’m gonna get Mojave sooner or later but for now just calmly focus on making music.

Yea I’d definitely upgrade but at the same time there’s no rush if everything is supported. I’m usually impatient because I like tech and it usually ends up coming back to bite me 😅 even though I wait for most things to become compatible. Mojave is pretty compatible with everything though at this point. And even though it’s old I would expect a Mac Pro to be able to handle the OS. My old laptop was a late 2011 before I upgraded and that couldn’t get past high Sierra I don’t think. Catalina sucks though.. it’s a nightmare for having to give plugins permissions and stuff

you are too young tutorial I was looking for Reason 8
