@jmp252
@jmp252 9 жыл бұрын
Bruce Wayne The reason kinect failed isn't because it had bad motion controls. It failed because no matter how perfect the motion controls get, it's just not immersive enough. So what is the logical step up? motion controls and VR. But that is taken by oculus (who they partnered with). So the next thing would be motion controls and AR.

Fresh FusionZz Don Mattrick the only leader who actually made Xbox the top selling console and a profitable business inside of Microsoft. Phil Spencer gets to sit in a fancy office today, not because of the two guys sitting beside him or because of any of the changes he made in the past 2 years, but because of the man who is not there. 3/4 people on that stage like to pretend that the Wii didn't completely crush the competition last generation and what maybe that says about the narrow-minded cookie cutter entertainment these guys are actually putting out year after year. Spencer even admits that he passed on Guitar Hero. Why is that not surprising in the least? Whether it is Wii or HoloLens or Oculus or Steam VR eventually innovation and risk will win out over the play it safe thinking steering team Xbox today.
@fwdcnorac8574

cool8man Dude, your high if you think Mattrick was responsible for the brands success. His decisions ate away at the sales lead the 360 enjoyed until Sony inevitably took over. Did you not notice all of the 1st party studio's that were shut down or sold off because of him?

***** sorry... but its far from a flop. Typical sony fanboy comment. If sony have 90% sales then why is it sony dont have 90% on software sales.... or is it because there arent many decent games on ps4? I bought a xbox day one. Mine has kinect. I wasnt keen on dancing around or waving my arms about but after experiencing it simple as voice commands.. i could never go back. I also bought a ps4.Didnt like the dashboard of it. I tried to love it but just could not get on with it. I had bf4 on both and genuinely could not tell the difference graphically. The ps4 ended up not being used as there were better games for me on xbox. I dont like indie games. Thats not what i bought a console for. Also psn was #no where near as reliable. Ps4 only supports 2.5ghz wifi. I prefer running on 5ghz in my house. Didnt use it so sold it. As for your comment on backwards compatibility. I have loads of mates still on last gen. You missed the most important part... it allows cross plat play. Which is awesome. As soon cross plat with pc too. That is a massive thing. Im not saying ps4 is shit.... its just too focused on rpg and indies. I like my racing ,fps and beat em ups as well as streaming media and tv so xbox covers all them better than ps4 and has better online network

I love that the video game industry is full of healthy (dare I say friendly) rivalries. It's great to hear Phil Spencer say that he was welcomed at the Sony floor and that Uncharted looks amazing. Last year someone at Sony (I think Shuhei) said that they want Nintendo to succeed because they're important to gaming. Basically, this industry is big enough for everyone to get a piece of the pie.

crackcorn0404 They're just being politically correct because in today's soft society, especially here in the U.S., people get offended by everything. The most rivalry ever was the Sega and Nintendo in the 16-bit days because both companies legitimately HATED eachother and would do anything to try and tear the other down. 'Sega does what Nintendon't.' LOL. This stuff was classic. Try that today and the whiney PC police will be all over you. It's pathetic.

Great episode, I'm a PlayStation guy (though I do own a 360) but this was very interesting and I can see how much passion these guys have for XBOX and most importantly GAMING. I'm glad me have people like this driving gaming forward.

I really have no desire to get an Xbox One but I give massive kudos to Phil for turning the brand around after that disastrous launch. Competition is important. When it's strong from all sides, everyone wins, especially the consumers.

So many great stories and information on things we didn't know how were handled internally. A damn fine show and I'm so happy this happened. Thank you, IGN!

Ryan McCaffrey has had some great Xbox podcasts calling all the way back to his days at OXM. This one is by far the best. Great job getting all these guys together to sit down and just talk about the history of the Xbox. As a huge fan of the brand, I love this. Really interesting to get some of Peter Moore's thoughts. I know a lot of people hate him, but the Xbox brand was at its strongest in the early days of 360 when Moore and Shane Kim were there. Things went downhill a bit after he left but Phil Spencer has done a great job getting things back on track.
