Whassup, folks! Y'all showed a lot of love in the Audeze Maxwell video -- thank you so much! Spread the "GearUP" word - share and reshare some more, lol. BTW, here's the affiliate link to the Moondrop Variations... thank you! apos.audio/products/moondrop-variations-tribrid-iem?sca_ref=6013768.DtxLlQedET

I remember when I first bought the variations. The sound wasn’t there but after some time of adjusting and switching ear tips there was a night and day difference. They don’t make a Variations 2 because it certainly has stood the test of time. Greetings from Tokyo. 👋

Is the sound like you have never listened before? I mean remarkable extra ordinary? I am putting too much money into it. I am just worried

Variations is still the best set I own...nothing has sounded better than them (talking about reasonable and not custom units). I think that the ThieAudio Origin might be the only real upgrade in sound to them for me...but I wonder if Moondrop has anything new in their plans.

I bought these when they first came out. Used them quite a bit. But then they sat in the case for a long time because I bought so many other iems. However recently I started using them again and they do indeed blow away any of my other iems. I use them on the Hiby RS8 and they sound phenomenal.

Needed an IEM because my upstair neighbours have decided to open up a kindergarden in a two room apartment. I just bought these last month after trying out other more recent "hype" IEMs. The Variations are the first IEMs I would wear all day, and I will never get fooled into only buying the flavour of the month again.

@martinsch Total bummer about noisy neighbors 😔

@@gearupaaron Yeah, and to make things worse I have bought an Arya Organic (open-back) not too long ago. 😬 I barely ever use them now, but the Variations sound good enough in every situation. (other IEMs I tried had issues in various conditions, like dialogues in videogames or male vocals, etc.)

Honestly, I have wanted to get the Variations for the past couple of years. However, after I bought the Moondrop Blessing 2 Dusk I had the best sound I have ever heard. I would still like to get the Variations in the future but I don't have the impulse to buy them as I already have a good set I listen to. I will also add that the benefit of these types of analog products is that they are just good as when they were first released and they last longer than any wireless sets.

So true on your last point. And with the Dusk, you might as well hold off for the Variations 2, lol.

Good one Aaron 🍻 I love both my variations and ie600. Variations seemed more neutral and ie600 has slightly more exciting mids but both are very good

GM ☕️…the Variations are the top dog in my IEM’s stable. The cable ( I had them replace it ..poor connectivity) ..I still replaced the cable and I run the Effects Audio 8 on it. These IEM’s bring both power and the smooth …they are my favorites. Have a great weekend ..also I run the Final Audio E or CP100’s Tips . A great and accurate review..and yes it’s still relevant.🙂 Have a great weekend.🍻

moondrop cables are prone to oxidation, and they don't cover them in warranty, even if its the one that came with variations...

Well, one of the benefits of IEMs is there's no software or battery. So there's really no reason to avoid older stuff. In fact, there's almost no reason to buy the newest stuff when it's hyped up and marketed like crazy and as expensive as it will ever be.

The beauty of tech advancement is (like I mentioned in the video) is that you can get pretty darned close to the (subjective) performance of the Variations. Things like the Thieaudio Hype 4 and Blessing series are such examples of punching way above their weight for less money. The Variations still has my vote, ultimately though 😆
@shahkhan1105 ай бұрын
nice review....btw, how are they different from hype 2?
@gearupaaron5 ай бұрын
I'd say the Hype 2 has more sub-bass, totally different category IMHO. The Hype 4, on the other hand, if you can swing it, is fantastic. I'd still pick the Variations, though.

Thanks for the video Aaron. I recently bought the KZ ZEX which has an "electret" unit and a dynamic driver configuration. For my ancient ears it sounds great, has terrific controlled bass and is literally 1/50th of the price of this! That being said, I'm sure this is a great IEM. Just not in my range especially if it's lacking the bass I enjoy. I've really been getting into Electronic Chill lately and bass is a must for that🙂 I do have the Moondrop Chu ll and they are really nice though!
