I’m 17 months 🔒. I kinda got discouraged around the 1yr mark and was actually thinking about cutting it but I decided against(thank goodness)it wasn’t until around 15 months that I looked back at my pics and realized dang I got hang time lol. I do see why everybody who is anybody that has locs, always says patience is key in this journey!

You are my inspiration. I had locs for 3yrs but I didn’t like thr thickness so I took them down 8yrs ago. I’ve been wanting dreads ever since but never was brave enough to take the plunge and like you I live in an area in the UK where getting sister locs is not possible. I watched your installation video 4 days ago and probably all your other videos on your channel😊. I tried interlocking, I did the first 8 at the back but they kept getting tangled in the next loc as my tool was too long so I decided to start with micro twist instead. My hair is quite similar in length and texture to your hair when you first started. Seeing you at 3yrs inspires me to just take each day as it comes and absolutely trust the process.

I started my second loc journey with 162 two strand twist Sep 22, 2019. I hit the eight month mark this past Sunday. I document my journey with pictures once a month. I know for a fact that my pictures show the difference. I see fullness, not length, but I know the length will happen. For those who doubt that their hair is growing, IT IS growing. Just be patient. Your vlog is evident of that '-)

Yes my microlocs are growing but it is a very slow process which is teaching me patience keeping one hairstyle for 16 months is big for me because I used to braid my hair with extensions every couple of months

The progression is amazing! You did such a good job and I've learned a lot, especially from watching your first year. Does your hair feel different (weight, texture etc) from before like when you were in the first or second year?

Thank you, glad my videos helped. My locs currently feel firm, not fluffy as they used to be (slightly rope like). The frizz is almost gone, they've merged into the locs. They are also much thicker, longer and voluminous than before. Hope this helps.

Hi Janice, aww, thanks for letting me know, I really appreciate you. Glad you are on this journey as well. I use a clarifying shampoo from L'Oréal called Botanicals Ginger & Coriander. It doesn't say anything about sulfated, however, it is vegan and silicon free.

Thank you Katsu, glad my documentation helped. What helps to ease the frizz is to embrace shrinkage, meaning: help your locs to shrink. It's the fastest way to combat frizz. 1. Minimize styling your locs (braidout, twists). 2. Wash them with a clarifying shampoo every 7-10 days, do not condition them. 3. Avoid daily moisturizing and just use water/pure rose water or distilled water. 4. Oil just your scalp only when needed. All this will help the frizz to merge into the locs and settle. Hope this helps.

To your second question: yes, I still use the dye (mouse). My locs felt good and I did not need a conditioner on wash days. But what I noticed is that the colour does not hold long, eventhough its said to be permanent.
