Can I turn this $30 broken down antique into the ART DECO BAR of my husband John's dreams? It's been a long time coming! Ever since I realized just how much John wanted a bar for his growing whiskey collection, I have been on the hunt for the perfect piece...I think I've found it, but will I be able to find the right design??

Oh my Goodness, what a transformation!!! When he was selecting a paper choice, I chose the exact one he went with. When you were deciding that you didn’t like the wood shelf, I was saying what about a glass shelf, a regular glass shelf. I didn’t know 200 dollar glass shelves existed. The whole fable was so interesting, but the part that touched my heart was at the very end when he tenderly kissed you on the cheek and hugged you, as if to say,” I love it and you.” BEAUTIFUL TRANSFORMATION!!!❤️❤️❤️

This might be my favorite of all your projects- it’s incredible! I know that it’s likely in a month or so I’ll be saying that again. I noticed as you painted how the little curves and angles, that weren’t all that noticeable in the original, really stand out when painted. I never much liked painted wood since I love natural wood grain, but your channel has changed my view to the point that I now have painted cabinets in our new-to-us home (the cabinets were a very dark wood and made the kitchen dreary so we painted them and they look fantastic). And you had me laughing out loud as you matched up the last little empty spots of your stenciling. I understand that obsessive need to make it right even if you’ve the only one who will notice. John picked one of my two favorites of the wallpaper. Obviously we’re kindred spirits (except that i don’t like whiskey at all). Thanks for another restorative (!) episode. We all have that self-critical alter ego that makes us miserable and it’s good to show her for what she is! P.S. the glass shelf was worth it!

Hands down, this is the prettiest piece you’ve ever done! Love the wallpaper background, & the stenciling on the top (what’s your secret for stencils, btw? Mine always look like a toddler’s finger painting.) THE COLOR- DIVINE!!! And then you added the glass shelf and that gorgeous pull, making it all swoon worthy!

Hooray!! I'n thrilled! The biggest tip I have with stenciling is to use less paint. Almost always, less is more with stenciling! 😊

Wow Andy, you done good girl...you've done very good. I had absolutely no idea how this was going to turn out. The blues paint, stencil and wall paper pull it all together. I totally agree the glass shelf was worth every penny. You had no other choice, otherwise the flow of the beautiful paper would have been interrupted. 👍👍

And the unscripted bloopers at the end, with husband and wife being so natural with each other, had me crying one or two happy tears. (My inner voice interrupting: “No, no! It’s allergies, achoo!”) I can envision the piece in a special place in your home surrounded by 2 of those gorgeous spiral armchairs (but with blue upholstery of course)… and when you move to your new home, maybe it will have its own room!

Holy friggin' COW! Anyone would adore having this in their home. That wallpaper, glass shelf, interior lighting. Geez. It was really a good idea to use the wallpaper with golden and copper reflective paint because then it reflects the light and fills the interior of the cabinet with light. An art deco delight. Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, Erte fashion paintings...honestly, you did a real miracle here. Geez. Admirable job, Andy! What a wonderful gift! In a few weeks I am going to be painting a little free library. Outside will look like Van Gogh's Starry Night, the inside probably white to increase the brightness on the interior. I already was looking at lights like you put into this cabinet so that when someone opens the library door at night the light will come on. I am not sure how often I would have to replace batteries. That question can wait. A Girl Scout and her mom are upcycling a solid wood cabinet into our library. I am going to remember to use tons of caulk to seal the unit well to keep the books dry. Our church is really excited to have a LFL installed on its property.
