Wow you You been collecting 50/60 years that awesome. I found a old buck usa 313 muskrat knife with a clip point and spey blade at a garage sale for $5. I brought it home cleaned and oiled it and brought it back to life and works great. I love that clip/ spey combo. It's ashame they don't make these old patterns anymore in the 300 usa series besides the 301/303 they still make. Thanks for sharing.

Happy Thursday Mr. Barlow, when I was 16 ( a long long time ago! ) in London, England, I bought a Buck 110 ( they were still a legal carry back then ). It had been on sale in the USA for a few years & had only just reached the UK & became an instant top seller. I had it in my pocket every day for a couple of years along with my little red Victorinox 58mm Classic as my default keyring knife & the Buck 110 had replaced my Victorinox 84mm Bantam which like the 58mm Classic I had carried from the age of 8 when I got my own door key. I cant remember what I paid for it but it was for me a 16 year old schoolboy a big chunk out of my pocket money & some extra cash I had earned doing odd jobs for neighbors. I had the Buck 110 for a 2 years, kept it in good condition & gave it to an older cousin when I left the UK for good at age 18. I have never owned a Buck since as my lifelong passion has been & always will be for Swiss Army knives however very soon I will once again be in possession of a Buck knife - well sort of! Its not a knife made by Buck but by Wenger for Buck, its the 85mm Swiss Buck Trekker with not one but 2 traditional Buck style Clip Point blades ( one large & one small ) , bought new in box at auction on Ebay & I expect its delivery very soon.

Love the wear and tear on those 300's somebody carried and used them for sure.. my favorites are 301, 501 500 and especially my 112 pro in s30v that is a powerful cutter. I'd edc 112 and 110 everyday if i could belt pouch carry them openly 😆... But damn knife laws here in Finland 😔... So in the pocket they go 🤫. Very nice collection you have. Im kinda i interested in the coming retro square 112 in 440c like the original, but if the price is too high 🤷🏻♂️ we'll see...

I have a number of Bucks myself.. in my 'Tiny' collection, (4 knives) A factory custom 110 (blue scales / nickel bolsters) w/ leather sheath. A Chinese 371 stockman, and too, a 701 stockman as well, that I received new as a gift many years ago. (late 80s, early 90s I believe) the "Buck" side-shield printing is script tho like your 704, not the block print like your 701.. I had to look at the 701 part of the video a number of times. I noticed that unlike yours, my 701, had another oddity, the clip point blade and the sheep's foot blade open on the same hinge. Still has great snap on closing.. I carry the 701 in a leather sideways belt sheath everyday.. Handy.. Lastly, I am awaiting the arrival tomorrow for a NitB 50th anniversary Buck 112 Ranger w/ leather sheath. One month left before these go out of production. Thanks for the effort! Nice collection
@papik1965 Жыл бұрын
What a fantastic collection! Thanks so much for your review…..although I probably shouldn’t have watched it, as now I want to start my own collection 😂. Bit of left field question here, but what oil do you use on your knives? Reason I ask is that my Buck 112 was nor shutting properly, just the last little bit which brings blade back into the housing. I was using this KPL Original silicone based oil for the first time, but began to wonder did have negative effect on the working mechanism? Ok I’m a bit of an old fart that’s used to the likes of 3+1 oil and smell that goes with it😊. But I figured this new silicone styled oil was better because they say it doesn’t attract dust etc. Be interested to hear your thoughts, or anyone else out there. In closing, I have small collection of various knife brands, but for whatever reason the Buck just seems like the holy grail for me, a classic!

I prefer the shape of a drop point, I carry a 503 all the time, have several, different blade steel, different handles, have also fixed blades, 119 with rosewood handle and 192 with walnut handle. I have 110, 112 and 55, also have a 110 special edition with drop point blade. Sometimes I carry a 501 micarta handle, I have also a 500 rosewood handle. My first buck was a 703 I purchased at walmart for 7.5$ in 87 that I carried for many years until it closed on me between my thumb and my index and nearly left me incapacitated. If you gonna get a present from me guess what it will be? haha My wife has a very nice little 505 with white stag handle. I can measure how my son is growing as he is not loosing his knife any more. Just a small note: I try to refrain from letting the blade retract by itself as it can touch the spring and damage the edge. With practice it becomes natural to hold the blade until the knife is closed. Also knives can be hold by the blade in a pocket and come out already open which can be handy. Thanks a lot for the video. There are better knives out there but I really like my Bucks, I guess it same for everything in live, find the best value for your wallet, nice designs, solid construction but adapt to your income. So being medium income I have medium priced quality item, except for my wife who is way above my pay check haha
