Plastics, plastics everywhere - in the wall, the floor, the ceiling, the ground, the pipes... and people wonder why they're bodies are loaded with the stuff.
@RiceHat
@RiceHat 2 ай бұрын
Yeah but they're recycle. The plastics in people's bodies you're referring to are from the animal life we consume, most especially fishes.
@Thesaurcery4U2C
@Thesaurcery4U2C 2 ай бұрын
@@RiceHat I also believe that we get a lot from plastic water bottles. How much is in the water, to affect the fish, to be traceable within our bodies. That has to be an insane amount. Unless your referring to farm raised fish, or the contamination during processing. I know that I have read that it is in the water supply and always will be now. I also heard that it is affecting the sexual organs of animals like chicken, and some researcher is saying that it is beginning to affect us in the same way, but I believe that she is doing this independent of others, so that is what that means.

I really like the idea of the modular plastic building blocks but every time I look at anything made of plastic it's many multiples the cost of comparable masonry products. You can't just make it a viable product. It has to be cost competitive and it has to be better than the alternative. I can think of several reasons why I'd still like to use a standard concrete block instead of those, including long term durability. There are century old block buildings holding up just fine.

The Turkish bricks looked like a decent possibility. B U T @24:04 the form work was highlighted because of its "simplicities" in application. Lol. I guess that each piece is simple itself, there is just a huge number of simple applications to do, I consider that overcomplicated. Those wacky Italians are definitely known for their simple manufacturing practices.

When you spend the extra money to buy a product guaranteed to last 50 +years. 1 = You are purchasing for the owner who lives there after you are dead and gone. 2 = How many companies last 50 years to make good on that warranty if you need it in 20 years. This happened with several of the "walk in bathtub" companies. The door seal, or handle would fail in 5 or 10 years, and the company had hit when the iron was hot, but couldn't stay afloat, leaving people without warranty, or even the ability to purchase the parts to repair it, because these weren't long time established companies. making these tubs, so they didn't have any surplus of hardware that a person could find. Of course, buy yourself quality products that will last, just think about some things before you spend that kind of money. The more moving parts = the more points of potential failure.
@SunRabbit

Great points. I also think the "walk-in bathtub" is a stupid idea, especially the ones that have the glass door. I can only imagine the horror stories where that glass door cracks and the person inside is pulled out through the jagged glass hole.

Dimensional stability. If they're building the elevator shafts first (and the manufacturer emphasises the shaft's fire-resistance), and then building a wooden (flammable) structure around it as is common in North America, the differences in the expansion/contraction coefficients of the different materials used will eventually cause the ceramic one to crack. The traditional construction technique of making complete floors including components like elevator shafts built on top of one another is better because the whole floor can reinforce itself, whereas in this system they're showing it looks like the elevator shafts are anchor points for the whole structure. Just because something is new doesn't make it better.

No accoustic panel can do a 55 dB reduction. That's completely absurd. Maybe you missed the decimal and meant 5.5 dB. The best panels on Earth can do a 20 dB reduction. A 55 dB reduction would mean you would have to shout at the person next to you for them to hear you. Decibels are a logarithmic scale. So your error isn't a 10x error, which was bad enough. Your actual degree of error is 316x. Ouch!

The first one is no faster than brick. Maybe block? but not with having to stucco over it. And the process in making them looks very slow for now anyways. They will do a few houses to show the product off, but people will not be willing to pay that much more for sq. footage. They never are, that is why so very few of these ideas get very far. It's all about the MONEY money, money. Pricetag.

@@richardmccann4815 Why is it not the best choice? Douglas fur gets harder with time. Maybe brick is better for the exterior over a wood-based siding, but they are coming out with good composite materials now. I have only built in North America, so I am truly asking your opinion, not debating you about it. I imagine that "better" is an opinion based off of different criteria for each person as well. Different materials also give the home a different feeling, or atmosphere about them. Restaurants use this knowledge when they design a building dependent on them wanting a person to feel comfortable and stay, or get their food and move on, so that they can serve more customers. i.e. smaller windows, concrete / block finishes, extremely bold colors, are uncomfortable to people, so they get in and get out. interior wood-stained finishes with a darker finish, rough natural looking stone in areas, specific warm lighting and comfortable seating will make a person feel more welcome and comfortable to stay. This is done more at places that makes money off there alcohol sales and wish you to stay awhile and have some drinks. Lol. Wood is warming inside; concrete has a prison feel about it.

You lose half of your solar panel effectiveness by laying it flat, 25% of the rest by putting it on the floor, another 10% by making it matte and grippy, and another 10% by things on the path. Within half a year you lose 100% due to wear, tear, and grime of the surface. The grime can't be cleaned off, it has itself embedded. It has been tried a dozen times, it never worked. Not as road, as bike path, nor footpath.
