What a great video again. I had to laugh out loud several times. "Don't google blowing techniques" 😂 I love how you also used the printing techniques for watercolor. I know them from jelly plate printing and now I can make some more use of my waste. I have always tried to minimize my trash, so every funny or awkward formed lid or plastic cup that I have to pay for when buying food, I clean and put in my mark making bin. Some I use as pallet and some I use for mark making when jelly printing - and from now on with watercolors as well. 😁

I can’t thank you enough!!! I love doing “classes” and basically doing what I would do in school but as a disabled parent with only 1 income, my desire for art classes isn’t our highest priority. I’ve been covering coloring book pages in ground and water coloring in my coloring books but… this is wonderful and something my mind will be able to utilize so we’ll. And because my so son’s school still has no art teacher he can at least start learning how to watercolor. ❤❤❤ Really, as a mom and someone who always wanted to do art but was never given the opportunity as a child, thank you. You’ll never know what a difference you’re making in our lives. 🙏🏻 Blessed be.

Thank you Michele! You are the best teacher. May I ask if there are techniques for making a waterfall and a rainbow in watercolour that look very realistic?

For a waterfall I would use a combination of candle wax with a little splattering of masking fluid, for a rainbow... really painting on a wet surface but you need to fade out any background colour, hard to explain, perhaps I will do a video...

I love this idea of having a technique booklet! The idea of using sandpaper on my watercolor paper is terrifying. You must be using a finer grit of sandpaper for this technique? Also in regards to the Scotch tape, did you treat it the same way you treated the masking tape (pressing it against your clothing first)? What were the green strings with the metal ends called again? The ones you used to put together the booklet. I loved having a longer video again. I learn so much from your videos. Thank you!
@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber Жыл бұрын
No problem Carol, actually the sand paper was very rough! As with all things try it out on a scrap first. The scotch tape is designed to come off, so no I didn't bother to press it on my clothes, but all papers are different so test test. Treasury tags are the little green things :-)

As you’ve suggested done your 30 techniques, and have done some twice as thought my paper was faulty but, on 2 nd time again bad results! Especially with graduated wash, sand paper, lifting out & Bokeh techniques. The sand paper didn’t look any different, & both lifting out & Bokeh lifted paper with the paint so the line was very rough, & the circles just rubbed paper! Help! I need your super help & advice. I did the 2 nd samples on rough cold pressed, was that perhaps the mistake?! Hope you can help me. Liked the video tremendously & found all the other methods really good & interesting! Thanks a lot I’m sure this will help later on.
@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber Жыл бұрын
If the paper is lifting, it's paper quality. That doesn't mean you can't make decent paintings on it, just don't try any lifting out techniques. If the sand paper isn't showing, either you aren't rubbing enough, try a coarser paper, or you aren't adding dark enough paint (or possibly paint so dark it covers everything. More layers can be added, both of paint and of sanding, just try again once it's dry.

@intheStudiowithMichelleWebber Do you have plans for another retreat? The spring time is when some maybe even most Americans have a bit of extra spending money when we file our tax returns. Back in the fall when you had this retreat being booked, money is more tight as folks are looking towards winter bills and holiday spending. I am not trying to speak for everyone, but for me this is exactly the case and I am hoping maybe next spring you will have a retreat being booked at a more opportune time and I might be able to participate, and maybe others in my situation as well. 🤞
@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber9 ай бұрын
Never say never, but unfortunately if you don't meet minimum bookings the art travel companies drop you or at least delay asking you again for a couple of years. I did have enough bookings but then a couple of people dropped out last minute, making it not viable. And there's significant time investment promoting and selling spaces only to find it can't go ahead. Air fares are an issue, most people follow me from the US. It's cheap for me to pop to Italy or Spain, but if you are in US or AUS it's a big deal. There will be something in the future, but at the moment I can't be certain of when or where.
