I made one just like that after watching your earlier videos. Thanks

I have the same setup as you for catching high swarms. When you have to use that last extension things get a LOT more sketchy. The way you came straight down is a great plan. If you let it tilt.....there's gonna be trouble!! Always enjoy your videos!!

I had two swarms today. On The first one I got three good bumps. I dumped the bees into a 10 frame and they kept flying back up to the branch. Then I heard loud buzzing and saw another swarm not 25 yards away. The first swarm tornadoed up and headed due south across a 40 acre soybean field. I lost them. So I shifted to deal with the second swarm. It was really high I wasn’t sure I could reach it. It was in a smaller pine tree. I have the Mr.Long Arm pole. It was maxed out. I could just barely reach it but I got under it and got a solid bump. The bees were so heavy it felt like the pole was going to bend 90°. It was waggling around all over I’m sure it was all quite comical. It was so heavy I accidentally bumped the ground about a foot away from the box it felt like a few hundred bees fell off. I got the rest dumped into the box they quickly migrated down between the frames. I use an empty top box as a bee funnel of sorts. I thumped the empty box to knock the remaining bees into the bottom. Then removed the empty and put a lid on them. The other bees marched over and climbed up on the outside of the box and the bees in the tree flew down. I let them simmer down until after dark then I moved them into the bee yard with the other hives. It’s been a crazy day. I plan on putting a feeder on them tomorrow. The scoop and score worked great today. I captured a swarm that I would have had no chance at otherwise. Thanks Randall

Hi Randel….I’ve made up two of those ….there’s two different sizes of painter poles….I made a long one for my brother….and a shorter one for me….I wished I could send you a pic of how I made them….it’s a more permanent situation….got away from that paint roller attachment….made a platform and bolted my 14 “ screen basket to it….it’s a better attachment….

I've been wondering how to do that. You will love it. If possible can you send pictures to my email? carter51117@gmail.com

I ordered a pole & basket after watching your video the other day. Great idea. Thanks for the videos & great ideas. Why didn't you put a queen excluder on bottom board this time?
@randallcarter-carterhillho2277 Жыл бұрын
1. I put a few drawn combs in the box and the swarm was not very big. 2. Since I knew it was a virgin queen I knew she would be taking mating flights in next few days. If I would have used excluder knowing it was a virgin I would need to remove it in 4-7 days so she could take mating flight.

Great video Randall. I enjoy your videos. How is your flow doing? Did it come back around for you?
@randallcarter-carterhillho2277 Жыл бұрын
The flow is marginal/good l here. Even if it was great there is not enough bees to take full advantage of it in my opinion.
