30 Minute Sports Poster Challenge: Real Time Design Episode 1

Let’s see how this goes! Sort of a live format, this series features unedited footage of me designing in Photoshop for 30 minutes without any sort of concrete plan in mind for the final result. I’m hoping the series will give you some insight into what my design process actually looks like most of the time, including when I’m coming up with design ideas for new tutorials.
You’ll see plenty of mistakes, failed experiments, and weird choices that don’t at all pan out, and that’s ok! It’s something we all go through, so why not go through it together.
I don’t necessarily recommend setting a time limit for your graphics, but I do think we do some of our best work when under pressure, and I’ve found it to be a fun constraint to try out to spark some creativity.

Yeahh I have thought about this. Generally I prefer if people don't follow along EXACTLY with what I'm doing, and instead make their own version, I think it helps understand/figure out each technique rather than copy steps without understanding them

what is your grid size settings? and what is the base document size you use for your posters please. cheers for the vids lately. they been helping in my sports design. ive transitioned from music artwork so again cheers.

I use 1080x1350 pixels (Instagram vertical format size), 72 pixels per inch, I think I have my grid lines every 0.5 inches. If you’re planning on making printable posters though, you should aim for something like 11x17 inches (or however big you want it) at 300 pixels per inch

I don’t have much freelance experience so I might not be the best person to ask, but my gut would be to keep your options open! There just isn’t sooo much sports work out there when it comes to design jobs, so if it were me I’d keep myself open to opportunities everywhere

Hey! I see all comments eventually :) So far I've just been sticking with Ultimate Frisbee designs since that's what I work most with, but I will consider expanding to other sports in the future

Thank you! Don't remember exactly where I got it, but if you look up "dots pattern" or "dots texture" on adobe free stock collection you can probably find something similar

I've been hesitant to provide assets since I don't really want people to replicate my designs EXACTLY-I think it's better to learn the intention/reasoning behind certain steps rather than following step-by-step methods to replicate an identical design. So ideally want people to gather their own assets and maybe try a similar approach, but also finding arrangements/compositions/techniques that work for them
