I recommend reading the manga. The anime is mostly non-canonical so most of it does not even happen in the manga (especially all the trancy stuff).

@@vacuumvacuum3809 Oh, I read the manga back in like 2015 after the third season came out in 2014 lmao It was kinda trashy after the Curry Arc imo, I feel like the Circus arc was just plain overrated, and to me the series just seemed to go downhill from there. The Weston arc was a _complete_ shitfest, though the Green Witch arc was.... Decent??????? Honestly I didn't like that ✨new military technology✨ aspect, but the aesthetic reminded me of the og anime to some extent (Particularly season one) so that's what I enjoyed about it. Since the TC theory was proved canon in 2017, I feel it's been at it's absolute lowest. One year flashback for Ciel, the one difference being he has a brother and an inadequacy complex. I stopped reading for a year by the end of all that 10 month Mey-Rin bullshit and kinda just decided to pretend like the manga didn't exist fjfkfjgjfjdj I was really disappointed because I was told so many good things about the manga- Particularly that it was better than the anime- And seeing Black Butler, being such an important comfort series for me especially in my youth, turn out like that just broke my heart honestly (Another gripe I have besides the fucking protag worship and shit pacing would be the lack of any originally written antagonist arcs- The characters are very original in back stories, but they follow just about the same arc since Madame Red and have gotten to the point they're more formula than character) I actually let my curiosity come back to me a month or so ago and caught up to the veteran's hospital, but it hasn't gotten any better unfortunately :( The same shit is being pulled with Bard now and fucking c h r i s t I'd say that besides the Book of ~ series, the manga is probably my least favourite media of the franchise. It should have stopped while it was ahead, and now that it's going past 15 years, I feel it's way overstayed it's welcome. This is kind of a shitty comment because it's just a poor formulation of half-detailed thoughts skimming over the arcs, so I apologize if it comes off as me sounding like "I don't like the manga because it's not the anime 😠", but I do have reasons for why I dislike certain, if not most facets of the manga in comparison to the anime. That's a completely different discussion though. ^^

@@ashlanders687 You don't have to apologize for it. You have the right to dislike the direction the story took, that's perfectly fine. Personally, I've been enjoying it, and I love this series (Though I agree with a few points of your criticism, like for an example, the Mey-Rin thing lasted too long.), but not everybody is supposed to like it. I'm sorry it feels like such a disappointment to you, but a lot of the fanbase loves the direction the story took, and many fans were stoked when the TC theory was confirmed true. If I'm not mistaken, we're nearing the story conclusion now, so we'll see how it closes out.
