Man, I really love Black Butler, it's one of the most unique animes/mangas. It takes inspiration from so many of my favourite subcultures, the gothic vibe, Alice in Wonderland, german folklore, 19th century England events and historical figures such as Jack the Ripperor or the Titanic, religious stuff and the whole creepy circus and creepy, old child songs (My fair lady), the whole public school arc while the artstyle is amazing both in the manga and in the anime as well as the soundtrack, and perhaps my favourite, the characters. Every single one of them is so unique and they all stand for different tropes. The Black Butler universe is so unique, it's one of the greatest anime/manga ever made, I'm sad it doesn't get much recognition nowadays. But at least we're getting another season!

I stumbled unto Season1 the very day that Episode 1 aired. I remember finding this random new anime online and checking it out while making a paper for college. I've been a fan ever since, still keep up with the manga, at least ten years later. The story has been one hell of a ride, as much as Sebastian has been one hell of a butler. :) The music in KS has always been very atmospheric, bleak, somber, and dark, while also accented by tracks that are playful, others visceral, others based on historical themes, and then a dash of what is strange and macabre (as in the Book of Circus). "A Memory of Madame Red" reminds me of the scene where Ciel enters the chapel to clothe her in her signature color, looking every bit the son of the man she loved, and then, with a sudden bittersweetness, red rose petals spread throughout the room, coming from the hearse outside. The one OST that stays with me from the first season, however is "Si Deus Me Relinquit" Heavy and embodying deep grief, it expresses a fullness of longing but lacking the power to change things, it goes into a theme of resignation that still bellies pain, pushed forward by a melody that is vaguely hopeful, despite the pointless finality of it all. I truly love Kuroshitsuji. Thank you for putting together this playlist. It means a lot.

That's soo similar to my experience with this series, I was just bored and started something new, and then it got soo intimate somehow and better both the writing, the plot and Yana's drawing skills with time. And as I never ceased to watch and read it, at this point after 14 years, anything related to it feels like home, and anybody that loves it feels like a distant friend
