tempest is a harder set to put together, finacially anyway. Im working on Tempest now. For Mirage, the only hump to clear was the LED, and the Phyrexian Dreadnought but tempest has quite a few cards over $50, a ton over $10-20 and a couple over $100. basically 1/3 of the set is a couple bucks and up. I think even having LED Mirage is like $3-400 cheaper to bui9ld than Tempest. The Dark though, is very doable right now.

@@gkezele yeah once you get over the LED hump, Mirage is easy, but that's quite a hurdle to clear. Not sure if it was easier buying LED or 20 cards around the $20-$30 range. Either way both sets are great and I've had fun with them so far. After Tempest comes Urzas Saga!

This was my childhood. I LOVE these cards. Thanks for doing this video. I remember the artwork of some of those cards that were huge when they came out. I also loved when Inquest Magazine would publish the "Top 10 Most Powerful" cards when each set came out like Alliances, Visions, etc. I have complete sets of Arabian Nights, Legends, Ice Age, 4th, etc. They hold special memories for me.

Sewers of Estark is actually very good in commander. Its the only black card that can make a creature unblockable at instant speed, really good in blacl voltron decks like Volrath the Fallen

Legends will forever be my favorite set. I remember my first time flipping through Inquest magazine in the mid 90’s and seeing some of the cards. Chains of Mephistopheles in particular was my chase card…finally own one almost 30 years later 😂

I always loved board games and cards, but somehow i missed Magic. Me and my brothers had duell masters cards when we was kids. I played with hearthstone for years and started mtg arena a couple of months ago. The tales of Middle-earth theme was my way into Magic, im a huge lotr fan, so i started to collect this cards a week ago and started to watch videos like this, magic is an awesome game and this cards are amazing, i always liked the old school stuff. At this time i only have 150cards and only played one game with one of my friends. It was our first magic game. Such an awesome game, waiting for more cards to arrive in my mailbox! 😁

I know you always joke that some of us never watch these retro videos, but personally I adore them. I've liked mtg for 5 years now, but didn't get into it until last year. Oh god... Shaku Endrbringer! This is most important card for me. Year 1999, I was 10 years old and got first time introduced to MTG. And this card was reason I started collecting. Just a note to people who have sideloading binders: The pockets are made for penny sleeves, not perfect fits. If you wanna put a card in a perfect fit and then a penny sleeve and then into the binder, it won't slide around.

I've thought about selling my collection several times over the years. I started playing in 1997. I dragged shoeboxes through a military stint, through a couple of cross country moves, and some natural disasters. I've lost cards along the way due to theft and bad luck. But, I still have some cards on my that I got from back then, as well as cards I've added along the way. They represent so much more than what they physically are. Especially after seeing what Magic has become over the last few years, with so much soulless product being churned out, poor quality, baffling corporate decision making, and a general loss of passion from the creators, I'm glad I kept those cards. It truly was Magic back then. Y'all can have my cards when I'm dead, I'm never getting rid of them.

Personally, I love seeing these old sets. It's motivation to try and hunt down the last dozen cards I need for my Unlimited set. Or the last few for Arabians. You show sets like this and i'll watch.
