I'm in my fourties now as well and seeing this brings back a lot of memories. Back in the 90ies playing magic was about having fun with a card game, not about monetary value. Back then nobody thought that these cards could be worths thousands of dollars someday. There was no internet to look up the value of a card or a decklist. All of our decks were homerbrew, they were shit, but boy did we have fun. Miss those days.

I understand this is a grading and pricing video at its core but the fact that these cards are so worn and loved makes the statement of giving them up in a heartbeat to make his daughter happy all the more meaningful. These were clearly not simple pieces of cardboard to Tony, they held a lot of memories of good times. All of that pales in comparison to his child. What a video. What a guy.

Hopefully they had a good trip. Almost expected to see the old decks I used to play against in middle school and high school. Something from an old in school player, that might answer Rudy's question on the corners. When the corners would get beat up, you would clip the corners so you could keep shuffling them, we didn't have sleeves back then and if they got too fuzzy it would be hard to play. Thus why the commons might be what's clipped more than the others.

I think wizards mentioned several times and mark rosewater said it interviews that they consider collectors edition and ICE a mistake! They wont go back and do anything alike, especially with RL cards. The print run is very low and the attrition rate is super high. I think at a very foreseeable point of time in the future we see those cards outperform UNL card prices and in some instances maybe even beta, just because they are so rare in decent condition. I agree, it's devastating. I'm only on a mission to make sure he doesn't use her to scam anyone else out of money. People at their core are loving and generous, and I don't want to see that used against them. While he was busy writing fake stories about cherished cards and creating horrible narratives about her mom, he was no where to be found. So it breaks my heart to see other people on here calling her trash and worthless when she was the one at the hospital, and by that baby's bedside every day. The only reason I even knew this video existed was because he gleefully forwarded it to rub in our faces that he got the money he did. He never even offered to help with the funeral expenses. I won't pretend I'm not coming from a place of hurt, but I will help protect that beautiful baby girl's mom's name with everything I have in me.

Be careful who you encourage on the internet.... This man is a raging narcissist who wasn't even present for his daughter's passing. The child lived exclusively at mom's house and Anthony only visited every few days for an average of 20min per visit. This card money that he claimed was for his child, was used to fund a new laundry room. That he proudly showed off to anyone that came over. I'm sorry you had a bad relationship with your child's mom but not everyone's situation is the same. ✌🏻

He didn't do this for his daughter. He used the money to renovate the laundry room. His ex wife is an amazing mom. She was the one who stayed overnight countless nights in the hospital with their daughter. His daughter spent her final days full time at Mom's house with mom staying up all night to manage meds and nurses.
