You are someone I would very much enjoy having as a friend or neighbor. Introverts love to spend time doing their own thing, but will talk with like-minded folk about shared passions. I love your old house(s), vintage clothing, antiques, etc. in addition to your artistic, yet practical approach to garden design. I use 7ft tall black iron trellises bolted to tall garden beds as tomato cages. I have 12 ft tall columnar cactus as the backdrop to my rose garden because they were already there. Roses in containers because of clay soil And yes, citrus here in So. CA., plus olive trees, sage, and bougainvillea. Despite your disinterest in novels, you are a gifted storyteller, which enhances the garden advice immensely. Dark chocolate all the way!

I was named after a 70s song by "Bread." You can have all the dark chocolate; I will take the milk chocolate! I'm also very introverted. What, bananas? More for me :) I mostly read nonfiction, especially science, nature, gardening... I loved Of Mice and Men and I used to do ceramics. I dream of having my own kiln and making my own pots. I also fantasize of living off grid. My favorite flower is probably gladiolus, but I never saw a flower I didn't like. I love peonies, ranunculus, etc. I looked at moving to somewhere in Northern California, like maybe near San Jose. Same reasons. I was an army brat, so I did live in California in middle school...near Monterey (on base) and then near King City. When you shared this, I already thought we were kindred spirits. I enjoy the personality you add to your videos with music, recipes, and insights. Keep sharing! I thought about making a KZbin channel, but I seriously couldn't record myself. I felt so weird and self conscious. I tried repeatedly, but it freaked me out. I may try again later. I'm a teacher and talk to groups all the time, but it's different.... I am so glad you put yourself out there. God bless!

I live in a small country on the Balkans and i'm completely in love with my little garden, it gives me so much joy to care about plants. I once had a friend, an old lady who lived in the neighbourhood who used to teach me a lot about plants, and she had a magnificent garden but specialised in growing lemons. Your videos remind me of the time I have spent with her. You are a true artist when it comes to gardening, it is not just about gardening, it is about finding harmony and making your garden a holy sanctuary for the soul. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and love with us everyday, you inspire us. 🙂🌿 Random confession: if i ever found a person like you in my country i would like to share this love for gardening and nature and art with them... I couldn't imagine anything more fulfilling than spending my life next to a person like you and growing a garden together, but i guess it will be hard to find where i live . Lol, i think i have a little crush on you to be completely honest. 😊 Wish you all the best with your plants and continue to inspire us, we appriciate it! 🙂🙂

when I first started looking for gardening channels I was looking for kind and considerate people. that's what I found in you. you give the ultimate gift of sharing your experiences and what you know in your garden either through your own research, or trial and error and that's irreplaceable. every day someone somewhere gets up wanting to try gardening for whatever reason they have for themselves and you provide that helping hand. I hear so many people say they don't want to bore people with what may seem to be the same old same old but even if It's one person that gets up and wants to learn then it will never be the same old same old because one more person has been helped. I use to think I was the only one that didn't know how to garden but you can bank there is someone out there that thinks that too lol so at least by watching you I know I'm not alone in that department lol! you bring a special type "Zen" to what you share so from me to you THANK YOU😀👍

Wow, I never heard of that before about Ventura. CA. Wow. I think that is amazing. I wish all cities would impart rules on having fruit trees planted in every yard and city park. Fruit trees should line every city. The fruit could be given to food shelves if not eaten. It is such a shame this is not standard practice everywhere yet. So many cities are too hot with out shade and this would be perfect solution to start lowering temps
@jeanettewaverly25902 жыл бұрын
@@Amywazwaz06 I was exaggerating about the fruit trees. There’s no law! It just seems that an overwhelming majority of Ventura landscapes include them.

@@ghtbb If you actually read her comment, you’d see she was being facetious when she said it must be mandatory. It was pretty clear to me that she was exaggerating and implying that having fruit trees in your yard is so common in Ventura that you’d think it’s a law. It’s understandable to misunderstand someone through text, especially when they’re being facetious, but that doesn’t make her a liar.

You may not read science fiction but you inspire it. The bird houses and poppies are a world waiting to be explored. Language is more than words dearest Siloe. Ask any new parent when their little one says dada. You tell us so many things about you without saying a word. Love your shirt by the way.

Your gardens bring excitement to many people therefore you are indirectly exciting. I also love 70's music probably because was a teenager during that time. I am also a happy introvert but I don't like staying at home. I love being in the car and exploring different areas without having to deal with chitchat. I'm in the process at 65 years old of starting a cottage garden. It's a little more creaky to move around but just hearing the birds and the gentle winds blowing while I tend to the garden is worth it.

The bananas were sweeter than those in the states so they would caramelize a bit and were absolutely heavenly. My heart goes out to you! I’m so similar. Funny how because people like us rarely go out and “small talk” we don’t know how many of us there are. (I loathe small talk too.) Have you read Quiet? It’s excellent. When I was little, when someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, if I had answered honestly I would have said a person living in a hammock and enjoying the sun and breeze. As a kid, I was so confused as to why everyone worked all day, giving their time away, when they could just grow their own food and put that work into themselves. I am definitely part of “mainstream” society now, but I still hold some of those views. In spirit, at least. And mostly now, I focus my energies on my little piece of earth. Even when I’m working, my heart is outside in the garden.

Hi Siloe'. Thanks for sharing so much about yourself. I can't say that anything you shared came as a surprise for me. Maybe I have lived a long time and have known so many people that I have developed an ability to recognize personality traits in people or maybe it's that in your videos you come across as being just who you have said you are. I've owned a business for 35 years in DC and have had to make "small talk" in order to do business BUT I see it as the hardest part of my work. I hate small talk except when I am talking with my neighbors' children. But while they may be small they are brutally honest and candid. I love that. I also can't think of anyplace I'd rather be than at home. I've traveled all over Europe, the USA, the Caribbean, and Central America. I love Costa Rica and hope to retire there some day but until then I'll spend as much time in my garden as I can. I have several kinds of fig plants in my garden. There are lots of figs that will do well in the Baltimore area. I'll be more than happy to share some of my plant starts with you if you'd like some. They are easy to grow and they produce LOTS of figs.

I live here in Southern California and there's pomegranates guavas and citrus of all kinds all around me I really like to eat artichokes and asparagus to I think they're quite delicious now you say that a chocha is more like a squash than a cucumber do you like it is it very very good cuz I just ordered the seeds because I saw your video and I really admire your house and the way you live and you have a lot of property that has Lush trees in abundance of grass which is perfect for compost and I don't have to all that I really like your personality and I love how you cook I love to watch everything you put out everything is so interesting thank you so much

You remind me of me. Seriously! I love pottery, don’t like being around lots of people, want to be off grid, am a homebody, love gardening, green, kale, would love to grow pomegranates, PBS, etc etc etc. Sounds like I’m complimenting myself here, but you sound really cool! 👍🏻😁 Also, just out of curiosity, where did you go to art school? Best videos ever!

I'm enjoying your videos. I'm glad you step out your comfort zone and do it anyway. I should just follow your example.

I discovered your channel 2 days ago and by the second one I knew we were of the same ilk. I am glad that you accepted the challenge , even though you (understandably) found it awkward and uncomfortable. No, not exciting...but very interesting nonetheless. Obrigado!

Shhhhhiiittt!!!!! I am freaking the boop out man! We are so similar is like blowing my mind!!!!! I mean I am a bit more outgoing and I listen to a wider range of music and I like bananas, but I do prefer plantains more and my favorite flower is the lotus but sunflower is tied with it so closer I actually say they both are my favorite. Besides that we are like kindred spirits. I would so be your friend if we met. Don't stop making videos. Maybe just dont post as often? Just something to think about, but not too hard don't stress out. :) this woman just loves Bees. Later.
