Remember when the age of the shonen was popularized by Dragon ball, which the whole premise was going after balls that granted wishes... some dude was like: "so, dude, hear me out, what if the dragon was a high school boy, and the balls were his balls... also ghosts... and espers... and DUUUUUUDE, ALIENS!". And so Dandadan was born...
I find this show to be a very good balance of how to depict battles and everyday life. The original manga author used to be an assistant at Chainsaw Man and I think he learned a lot from that experience. It's hard to notice the similarities at first glance, but I think the show is quite heavily influenced by Chainsaw Man.
