I love my printer 🤣 Essential when the kids were in remote school, great for printing pages to colour instead of buying colouring books, etc. and mine also prints pictures that I’ve used to share photos of the kids with the grandparents/ great grandparents and swapping out pics in frames to update them every once in a while.

I don’t buy any clothes with polyester. I try to purchase only clothes with linen, cotton, hemp etc. I also don’t purchase any scented candles, gift wrapping paper or decor pieces. Can’t think of anything so far. Greetings from Germany ✌️

Thanks for sharing! These are some aspirational goals for me because I really do hate all of the plastic bottles. I would be more than happy to bring a glass bottle to the grocery and just refill it when it's empty (plus that would probably be a good thing for brands to save on production and have more repeat customers for the refills). Come on, brands!

I don't buy dryer sheets or softener. I have always found the tumble dryer softens my clothes just fine and if you pull stuff out and fold it right away, with very few exceptions, I probably would not need an iron, either. I also use woolen dryer balls. I have fine hair which I color. I no longer need conditioner. My hair dye comes with a little tube and I have filled an old conditioner bottle with them because I use so little of it. And I still have like 8 tubes ready to go in the bottle.

I like the majority of these suggestions - however, I do buy moisturizing eye drops for contact lenses because I wear contacts and have pretty dry eyes, so they help a lot! Also, I keep a bottle of hydrogen peroxide in the laundry cabinet because it removes blood stains. That's all I use it for, but it's super effective! I also have a few car accessories - a hammock style seat cover for the back row because I have two large dogs. I also have a charging plug for my cell phone (I live in Alaska and drives can be LONG when going out of town), and an organizer in the trunk for car cleaning supplies and my road safety kit. A lot of great suggestions to help me reconsider what I personally need in my home.

I buy panty hose but I only have 1 pair. I have sensory issues and not much of a thigh gap so I get tights or panty hose to make it so my thighs don't rub together as I walk in skirts. But I only have 1 because I wear skirts at only special occasions normally only a couple times a year. So I have 1 for when I need to wear my black a line skirt and that is it. I don't buy high heels ever because I have a disability that makes me go between a cane and a wheelchair depending on the day and I know I need shoes I can tolerate for a while with my cane so I always get flats. I have found your content helpful though as I'm trying to simplify my life to make it more accessible with my disability. I have enough random gear for keeping tabs on my health that looking at the value things in my life has helped me to get real as I start to get rid of things that I won't need because I can no longer live on my own safely. Also I try to make sure everything sentimental has a space and a purpose. I have a hippo that was part of my Nana's (grandma on dad's side) hippo collection. I got a stuffed hippo because I was one of the youngest grandchildren. That hippo holds onto my jewelry and hair accessories so that they don't get tangled up and I can easily get to them. It also fits the memory as my nana frequently wore lots of jewelry and got her hair done every week up until she got the cancer that killed her.

Good list for people getting started. I'm not a minimalist (yet?) but live from more of an eco-friendly and/or health point of view. Without that frame of reference, I'm not sure of the point of 'minimalism'. Why use a Keurig or similar machine? Unless you have refillable pods? A french press or espresso machine that uses fresh grinds eliminates the daily waste and makes much better coffee. 'Room sprays' or any chemically perfumed anything (cleaning products, candles etc) are so toxic with VOCs....aside from the environmental impact, people shouldn't be exposing themselves to them (especially with children). You don't mention paper towels, paper napkins, disposable dishes/utensils etc but I've never purchased any of those. Same with all the single use wipes, cleaning supplies, dryer sheets etc. I've noticed those are things that the typical American household needs education on ....much more so than some of the items you list here.
