I've had the same Amazon Basics Speedlite for 2 years now, its still going strong. It's never failed while shooting indoor event photography(often poorly lit)anime conventions, quinceaneras, sweet 16s, or even weddings. I use a circular soft box (Neewer 16"/40cm Portable Mini Round Soft Box) or shoot through umbrellas and it produces great results. For groups I use a second Amazon speed lite and they don't have any problems communicating to my Altura Wireless Flash Triggers. Nice budgetography set up. I didn't know about the Yongnuo flash though, this video gave me a second option in the event I need something stronger in the future.

A white pop of light is a white pop of light. The biggest differences are durability, consistency, and feature set. It's not terrible for what it is. I do think I burned mine out on the intervelometer test.
@jefferycampbell22436 жыл бұрын
I burned an AmazonBasics out shooting at 1-2 sec intervals. It gave a loud pop, stopped working, and was very hot. Funny, I was using 4 of them slaved together, all at the same power, and the others were still cool and had no problems. Manual lists max cycle rate as 480/hr (8 sec intervals) at lowest power and 100/sec (36 sec intervals) at max power to avoid over heating. Amazon replaced it no questions asked.

@@joelwilliam5726 I don't think there's a whole video worth... Plus I only have experience with a small handful of units I have owned throughout my career. But here's what I can say. Small (physical size and weight) are great for beginners, or for just having an extra light. If you look at this video, I needed a small light in an awkward spot, and I had an extra in my bag. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2LJkGZ-oc97g5o If you use pocketwizard, you need larger ones that have a PC Sync port. @NOMcreative4 жыл бұрын
I haven't, but as long as you're doing your product photos in a studio with line of sight, I imagine it will work just fine for you. I have never had problems with slave triggering in studio. It fails as soon as you go outside or shooting alongside other photographers.
@chris51965 жыл бұрын
Just wondering, how would you go about setting this flash up for off camera use? (Sorry, new to flash portrait photography.) Would this flash be compatible with a wireless flash trigger/would you be able to sync multiple of these flashes together that way? 📸
@NOMcreative5 жыл бұрын
Unlike the Yongnuo (or new expensive Nikon/Canon models) the Amazon doesn't have an internal trigger. That means you'll need a radio trigger that fires via hot shoe or PC sync cable. I use Pocketwizard, but if you're just starting out there are a lot more affordable options too.

@NOMcreative5 жыл бұрын
If you have some super fancy camera and lights with built in triggers, sure. But unless that's the case, you need a trigger for every light. If you don't have that kind of money (or if you want to save time) then you can turn on optical slave and use as many lights as you want all with just one trigger.
@Yoko.Kurama5 жыл бұрын
@@NOMcreative That's really weird to. So its not possible to use the hot shoe flash the same way you would use a built in pop up flash without the camera being extremely expensive?

@@Yoko.Kurama so you can technically use the built in flash to trigger optical slaves. It will only work if 1) you have line of sight 2) it's dark enough for the sensors to register. At home, yes. Outside during the day, no.

At the end of the day, a pop of white light is a pop of white light. If you're in a controlled environment and aren't going to use motor drive, then it will probably do you just fine. If you mean the first party name brand stuff, then it's either to show off, or because they have cash to burn and it isn't the main factor. @@NOMcreative in my case since I'm starting out. No I don't need those features yet.
