Murky dude touches on so many things I hate - the 'you can't hit me' meta where they just stand in place and wait for you to swing, and then the fact that he's so proud of outplaying an ultra with his murky. The saving grace is that he was a bad player who just qs'd instead of rolling even when it made no sense. That DC though was frame perfect - probably the skill he's developed more than anything else.

Do you think its fair to say that in DS3 PvP the player who attacks first will often lose. The game just feels so passive-focused that oftentimes it just feels like one player loses patience, eventually goes for an attack, and gets whiff punished.

it CAN be like that for sure but if both players have great spacing it’s really hard to punish certain attacks

Yes, light weapons are virtually impossible to reaction punish, and you have to make a read. With heavy weapons you can do things on reaction but it depends, especially if the player using the heavy weapon is skilled and knows how to space before and during the attack with tracking. In this video it was basically entirely prediction, there was basically nothing I could reaction punish with my slow weapon.

No. if you loose to someone playing passively it was not because they were playing passive but because you failed to effectively counter or beat their strategy. There are quite a few weapons and items in the game which you can use to either mirror or counter a passive playstyle. if you dont switch to a setup or weapon to counter their playstyle it isnt an inherent issue within the way the pvp is built, but rather an issue in either how you play or your skill level.

I boxed for 11 years and found it to be very similar. Tbh, just watch it at the elite level. Counter punchers are the most successful.

@@wesleycody it’s very hard to counter somebody playing passively if they don’t panic roll, you don’t have any opportunities to counter attack them which is usually the most effective strategy, though my main strat for it works (offhand explosive crossbow ew) I can say for others that it is a powerful strategy.

@@WaxedSeed Where's the Astorags? Best scaling among the ultras, really high damage, very lightweight, good weapon art, good moveset. It's honestly not even bad for under 30% equip load builds, you can land some 350 dmg hits even without relying on poise.

Honestly I really want you to make a separate video on that guy because I think it'd be funny to clown on him. You can tell he's the type of guy that stopped having fun with the game ages ago. The only fun that guy ever has is either winning or being the no fun police when he hard twinks on low levels. Also in case you didn't know Dark Souls 3 has a feature where if you block somebody you will never meet them again online (works on all platforms). Meaning if you meet somebody like that in the arena you can block them & never fight them again. Also if you invade into a gank you can block the entire gank party then when you inevitably kill The overleveled Phantom & the host tries to summon them back the summon default fails. I'm sure many people know about this since we're still playing the game, but in case you didn't know, now you do. Use it in good health.

One thing i don’t understand is why they limited the moveset on pretty much every classic weapon. For example only the claymore gets the thrusting heavy, and no vertical movesets on colossal weapons 🤷‍♂️ why did the Greatsword (UGS from ds3) have a vertical moveset but its the same as every colossal weapon in Elden ring?

I have a regen build with this weapon with Bountiful Sunlight+ Sacred Chime + SunPrinces which adds up to 20hp regen per/s; one of my best builds. Just unfortunate that UGS is really difficult to hit good players with lighter weapons.

One of my favourite builds is Blessed LKGS, but I play it with an offhand Lightning Estoc or Rapier. You lose some regen from the caestus, but I think is more viable than 2handed LKGS. The R2 of the onehanded LKGS combine with an Estoc is terrible. Good vid, Amir!

I've always had trouble deciding what would be a good build for the LKGS. On one hand, I can do raw FTH and lightning infuse it, not having to worry about buffs and getting raw damage. On the other, I could sharp infuse it that way I benefit from a higher DEX, 27 STR, and then use the rose for the lightning blade at 30 FTH. On the OTHER hand, I could bless infuse it with 47 FTH because it benefits way more than other weapons due to the natural lightning damage, and I get some convenient regen that is very good for arena duels. What do you all think?

Your damage is getting split three ways with dark infusion, might be less worthwhile than blessed infusion just adding raw phys attack.

The game was not balanced around 1v1 fights. Ultra greatswords are balanced in an invasion setting. It's easy to dodge an ultra when you're in a literal flat circle with nothing to distract you. It's a little harder when you're trying to dodge herald knights, turtle clerics, keep track of your phantoms, keep track of the other invader, and debate whether or not to try to heal all at the same time. Mix that in with an invader who knows what they're doing being the one swinging it, and you've got a very powerful invasion tool, especially when paired with hyper armor and turn-and-burn trading. Don't get me wrong, 1v1s are still interesting to some extent, but I'll never like them as much as invasions simply because the game was not made for duels, making many whole classes of weapons useless. Again, in invasions, I believe almost all weapons are balanced and have their place. Duels are slow, reactionary, min-max, meta spam-fests at their worst and slightly tense at their best. I'm fine with the games not being balanced around 1v1 encounters.

I am using a similar build but with strength as the highest stat. I am getting owned by sell swords and people using estoc with straight sword. They retreat then fake then wait for u to R1 so they can punish you ! What to do against those dex players ? I am not a bad player i win some duels against many others. But when my opponent has a curved sword or double wielding SS with estoc or a sell sword ? Then i am dead. They keep whiff punishing me and if I don't attack then they're gonna run at me with a running attack or roll behind me. I know i can hit behind me while unlocked. I don't know what it is but I can't seem to hit these Dex users

This weapon fucks ass. I used a similar build with the blessed variant, and a blessed Caestus also so I could two-hand the sword while looking like a chad, and pumped up strength and faith, I two-shot someone in the arena which was pretty dope, and quite often the foe would see the health regen and would freak out after a while realizing I could heal up more, so would rush in (unwisely). I had an Irithyll Rapier also I would switch to for the weapon art lunge, which has deceptive range, most having played about outside the swords range found themselves still in range for the slidey stab. Good effort! Had the Morne's Helm on Lapp's set, along with the post-game Patches Squat to let people know they just got squatted on.

that murky player...thats a specfic archetype. we've all ran into that. and its not even the weapon or set up itself...its their behavior. the spamming of L1, the edgy standing still and then rolling last second, and any other miscellanous quirks or random actions conveying utmost confidence in their skills despite having a busted lower skilled set up. usually have zero respect for their opponent and when they get their ass kicked, it shatters their ego for a second and they cant handle it so they dc.

The mistake you made was stopping at 125. 125 matches with 150 so there's no reason to not go to 150 for the arena.
