She never really had many problems except with her hearing and vision at age 20-25. The last 5 years she never really declined. We were lucky to not have any internal organ failures and things along those lines.

11 years later and KZbin has called us to memorial of the 30 year old cat. One year later: look below to witness people on the Internet get angry about someone else on the Internet making a statement. In reality, you're angry based on the preconceived notion that this comment was made from some self serving gain. To which I'll drop this little info dump on you, it was made so we can discus the fact that KZbin had brought to light a long lived that that lived longer than expected. I'd tell you to grow up but considering you are all either several years younger or several years older, I think a better lesson to be had is to not assume things. Anyhow, back to the original point of this comment - holy shit KZbin showed me a crazy old cat from 12, years ago, how cool.

@@awembaweawembawe6116 Every facility has their own policies, but speaking generally, yes. Every service has a charge. You're paying for the expertise to make it a peaceful and smooth process. Veterinary (doctorate) degrees don't come cheap. I'm sure if any professional were asked to do a service for free, that probably wouldn't work well. Also, the cost is for the drugs involved. At the end of the day, we can only help pets if we keep the lights on. If a loved one (human) is undergoing surgery and they die, do you think they'll not charge anything? If someone is on hospice care, do you think there's no cost associated with that? I DON'T mean to sound cold. Believe me, I VERY much understand where you're coming from. That's why we try to keep our euthanasia costs as low as we can. We recognize that this is especially not a time to try and gouge people for money. Again though, every facility has their own protocols. Some charge more if owners want to be present. Some charge more for sedation. To me, that's a horrible thing! If you're tight on money and elect to not have your pet sedated prior to euthanasia, if they go down "rough," the owner is going to feel awful for not paying the little bit extra. Plus, that's not the last memory you want to have with your beloved fur baby. Sedation is always done by us. It's just included in the cost to ensure things are as peaceful as possible. Moreover, after the owners leave, we try to make paw prints for the owners. These get mailed with sympathy cards to the owners. These aren't things we need to do, but again, we want owners to have as good of memories as possible. Every bit takes time though, too. Realistically, utilizing an exam room and staff to ensure everything is taken care of appropriately....unfortunately in the real world, everything has costs associated with it. Like I said, we DO NOT nickel and dime people, especially at these times. It's just a matter of being realistic. Sorry for the long explanation but i just wanted to try and be thorough and clear. Hope that makes sense.

Just imagine what would have happened if someone told you that you would have stayed with your cat forever. I think I would not have loved my cat like I did because I would have took her for granted. My cat passed away earlier this year on the 7th of January after three long months of fighting back brain tumor. My country is barely advanced in terms of pet care, so we don't have an animal brain surgeon in the country itself. It was heart rending. He was fighter to the end, but the waiting and the balancing between hope and despair is crippling. I didn't want to put him down, I want to see through all possible method to save him. But in the end, his insides had rotten, he barely ate and probably couldn't digest his recovery meal well, and finally when I combed him, his fur came off too easily. I knew then that he no longer able to fight, his immunity had fallen. So, after a moment of processing this fact, I decided to let him go. I didn't share the days of watching him slowly withering because I feel that it isn't something I should talk about. But now that a few months have passed, I found talking about him therapeutic.

That's just how ancient cats look. They've lost muscle mass. Their bone structure has changed. These two facts or factors, combined with a thinning coat, make the fur look much more raggedy than it really is. I brush my 24-1/3 year-old Ragdoll every day. I've changed brushes several times because of bony protrusions and thinning skin. A stranger might think that I don't take care of him. My eldest cat is now 7 years old. I found her as a newborn on a rainy day in an alley, and I would wake up as early as 4 am to feed her and put her back to sleep. She's my baby. From time to time, the thought of her growing old and me moving on with my life without her breaks my heart. I'll never be prepared for that moment. 🥺😢

How does she look now? My oldest cat was just 5 years old the he died because of an illness he was a stray too

@@milesrn2312 Aw I'm sorry to hear that. 💔 Mine looks well and healthy, thankfully. I had her spayed so she never leaves the house on her own.

She's definitely loved so much. If she lived in the wild, there's just no way she'd live that long. Props to her hooman Edit : Apparently there's a debate on religious views in the reply section. Just wanna give you a heads up 😂

Still inquisitive and interested. So nice to see. My cat was the same, though only 23 years. He may have lived longer, but quality of life issues were getting to him. I can only hope my other 3 cats have lives just as long and healthy as my first cat.

My cat was also 23. He was amazingly healthy for the most part, but we ended up putting him down when he starting having small fits. But amazingly he could still move around completely fine and if anything overgroomed himself sometimes. Somehow was this healthy after being run over twice before the age of 8. He was a weirdly lucky cat

Man, that cat was older in this video than I am currently. And I'm a grown ass man who's graduated college and has a 3 year old son. That's insane.

My mother owned a cat that lived to the age of 22. He was born in October 1999 and died in Feburary 2022. My mom had him from the age of 18 to 40. What's sad is he eventually got so old and crippled she decided to put him down because he was suffering.

You are an immensely good human for not discarding her, just because she's old and frail. Too many people discard pets when they become old, preferring the eternal kitten. I can't express how low I'm bowing down to you.
