Around 2000/2001 a friend of mine had a problem with a second hand sportage alternator and Kia paid 75% of the bill 😳 this kind of customer care makes people brand loyal 👍🏻
@Leeirvinebird Жыл бұрын
I can add to that. In 2009 we'd recently bought a second hand Sedona that was still under warranty. A brake warning light came on. Kia told us they'd pick it up from our house and dropped an Enterprise rental car for us to use whilst ours was being repaired all on the same day. The problem turned out to be fairly minor and was repaired under warranty.

I have a 63plate Sportage and it is the best car I have ever owned. It simply does everything I want and has everything I need...The 1.7 diesel engine is reliable and I'm getting 44 mpg. Its as quick as I need and handles superbly for all my needs..I can even get my bike in the boot and the luggage space is still plenty big enough to take extra luggage that I haul around with me... Would love a newer one but they hold their value so we'll, I can't afford one just yet

Matt, no mention of the infamous oil burning engines shared with Hyundai? Did you know Kia and Hyundai settled a class action lawsuit in America because their engines were crapping out and needing extensive repairs or complete replacement at no cost to the owners? Then there were the videos on TikTok of people starting Kia and Hyundai cars with a usb plug because Kia and Hyundai decided to save money and not fit an immobiliser, making a lot of their cars uninsurable. Bet Kia didn't tell you about that

The 1st gen spare wheel carrier was common on intermediate size SUVs with hatchbacks in the 1980s and 1990s. The underfloor was taken up with fuel tanks and axles etc and the last place you need the spare offroading is under a sinking vehicle so the spare would sit inside the load area, getting in the way. This was a common feature even on Jeep XJ Cherokees and in some markets the external side hinged spare was de rigeur. The more obvious solution in later designs was to side hinge the tailgate and put the spare on the door.

I've had seven Kias: two Sedonas when we used to tour with younger children - and they loved the video and huge seats with picnic table; two Ceeds which were utterly reliable and a pleasure to drive; now my wife has a nippy little Picanto - her second one - with a very sporty trim and I have a 2018 diesel Sportage Ecodynamics which has several times taken us the length of France and back (at 44 mpg doing around 70mph the whole way) in total comfort without a stutter. The only reason to look down on them is if you are a badge snob - in which case you are welcome to indulge your prejudice and pay too much for something which won't be much better. I swear by them - and recommend them to anyone who asks.
@thedewberry_6399 Жыл бұрын
I bought my first Kia in 2018, a Picanto GT line, I was so impressed by it I got a new 72 plate one this year (GT line again). Every single time I have had someone ride along in it for the first time they are always without fail commenting on how good the interior is, or if they see the exterior for the first time how good looking a car it is. Kia are by far the best bang for buck car on the market, lower mid range prices for in my opinion, equal if not better quality than all the coveted German badges (BMW, Audi, Mercs), the new Sportage is absolutely stunning and definitely on my list for our next car. Oh and I've never had ANY work required on either of my Picantos, they are incredibly reliable, cracking little cars!

We are on our 3rd Kia I bought a new Sedona 2.9 td in 2002 - it lasted 11 yrs and 242 k and the family bus took us to the south of France 6 yrs on the trot, and to Monaco, Austria, Germany, Holland and Belgium. In all the time I owned it only a front wheel bearing and the alternator failed- it was still on the original v xxx clutch and exhaust system when I “gave it away”. Next was a very cheap Carens which was just a stop gap car and that never let us down either. We have currently got a 2017 Sportage 182 bhp KX4 with tow bar for use with the caravan. So fully loaded it’s untrue and the build quality is right up there with the best in class. Steve

I thought worth sharing, My first ever time in a Kia was my older cousin passed her test got a Kia Pride. It was fine and served a purpose but always a running joke in the family. More importantly reminded me of my first time ever driving a Kia. I worked for Vauxhall main dealer cleaning cars and as a spotty 19 year old at the time was always sent as the message boy, which I sort of enjoyed. Anyways I remember late one Friday the dealer principal told me had to pick up some new stock and drove me to the local Kia dealership around 2 hours away in the new at the time insignia Vxr, I had to pick up a gen 2 sportage and drive it back. He said ‘follow me’ tore off to the first round about and I could just about see the Arden blue of the insignia we were travelling at decent pace. He indicated, so did I, or so I thought… they still had the old school reversed indicator and wiper arms on opposite sides of the steering wheel. I came into the round about pretty hot and of course was all over the place as I had no indicators but my window wipers were on full speed haha. I laughed after I figured out what happened and the dealer principle made it home around 30 minutes before me haha This was over 10 years ago now but a memory I always have. Great video Matt and thanks for a trip down memory lane 😊
