Of note: -Brian ended up owing Tamara a settlement of almost $35,000 -Approximately $21,000 of this was attorney's fees for Tamara that he could have mostly or entirely avoided paying by settling with her out of court. This means he only owed her around $14,000 for the property damage, but increased what he owed her by around 150% by choosing to take their divorce to court. -Not even included in this $35,000 settlement is the almost $15,000 that had to be paid to Brian's own lawyer, meaning his divorce really cost closer to $50,000 in total. -He couldn't pay his own lawyer, which is why Zoe used her inheritance money to do this. Since he already borrowed a massive sum of money from Zoe to fund this ill advised lawsuit, it's not clear where he's going to get $35,000 to pay Tamara or her lawyers. My thinking is that if he gets a job and is paid over the table, that Tamara's lawyers will just put a garnishment on his paychecks. For this reason, his limited jobhunting activities will be restricted to under-the-table work, which Zoe wil justify to others referencing Tamara's toxicity and the judge's horrible miscarriage of justice. For Tamara, at least, this should represent closure. Zoe unfortunately doesn't seem nearly done with Brian, so their struggles together are far from over.
