I plan to try the 120gr BT in my .308 this season. I can load them to about 2400 fps and still get good expansion. Lead-free is the way to go if hunting for food.

I like these but there to expensive for the working man. 35.00 for box of 20. I wish they would work on lower the price. Even to expensive to reload to 35.00 for 50 bullet tips.

@Gaunter O'Dimm Reloading blackout is super cheap. Convert brass and use cast bullets. Reserve jacketed bullets for special purposes, not general purpose.

Yes, although there are cheaper options. This is best utilized for longer range purposes. A less durable bullet such as the V-max is better. Blackout is okay for self defense, but the best is 5.56 using a V max 53 grain bullet. It expands much more aggressively and has little penetration into barriers. It is perfect for the close ranges of home defense.

@Dave Smith That's debatable. That 120gr TAC-TX bullet will expand down to 1350fps so...it can be loaded in the low supersonic range for home defense and be lethal as a 30 caliber round. 223/5.56 lethality comes more from its high velocity than from its mass. However, any argument for or against one caliber over another is generally ALL BS because a .22 can kill because shot placement trumps velocity, mass, or value of fire (at close range). You can poke a neat hole in any organ and survive with little to no lose in quality of life, except the brain. Training under stress while maintaining a high level of accuracy trumps any caliber size, weapons platform, or brand name hype.
