I am extremely fortunate I think after reading some of these comments! My hubby and I are renting and its a very outdated 2 story home that need some work! Our landlord said we could do any upgrades we wanted as it will only increase the value! But, we aren't planning anything crazy looking or anything and he likes how I set it all up and said he liked my style so he trusts we will make it better!

A lot of people are really critical in your comments section, but honestly I think it looks great! I’ve rented my whole life and I remember my mom repainting walls, cabinets, and even at one point redoing the floor and even a deck that we had. We always tried to make the places we lived in a home! We did always ask permission, but all of our landlords were always so kind and really didn’t care what we did as long as it was to improve the home and not destroy it. I think you’re doing a great job, and seeing what you do inspires me for my next move back into the city. Don’t listen too much to the negativity, constructive criticism is so much better than negative comments and reactions. The tile totally looks real and no one would fucking know the difference. I bet if I walked into the homes of half of the people commenting negatively I’d hate all of the decor decisions they made. Keep up the good work, you cute boo boo. ❤️

This is a whole story. Okay, I was in a very bad car wreck. I was 20. I had to move home. Doctors say it will be 5+ years for my brain to heal. Heal enough for me to work or drive. So I have to live at home. I bought a portable building and I'm making it into a tiny house. This kitchen design is almost exactly what I had in mind. Colors, backsplash, decorations. Literally the exact same. Only difference I have in mind, floating shelves. So thank you. I feel joy extra strong now. This is just a video and it gives me so much joy. So much excitement.

Agreed. It is very close to XO M’s restyle. Though I’m not a fan of glass tile patterns like that (reminds me of mid 00’s condo design), the subway tile is very basic/mainstream. It’s popular for a reason because it can be worked into almost any design style. But it would’ve been nice to see a little more stretch of his design muscle.

@@TheNeoncooki I always laugh when people are quick to get offended for someone else. I think what kate said, if you were to read again, was that it was super cute and liked his channel however found it ironic that he complained of the lack of creativity in decorating the kitchen while he in fact did the same. Is his kitchen "before makeover" cute? Yes! Hell its better than mine even after I tried to touch it up. Is his kitchen "after makeover" cute? Absolutely. I think we all agree on that. I just think his commentary struck her and me the wrong way. Watch his video again and notice how he criticizes the kitchen then realize he also wasn't creative or original himself. Maybe read without getting emotionally involved. No one was criticizing his work, just his words.

Currently obsessed with open kitchen shelving - used early american stain on mine in my rental kitchen too! I would just stick a bit of 3M tape behind your shelves so they didn't swing precariously when you want to grab something off them - might help stabilize!

Is it really that serious? I wasn't allowed to for mine either but my landlord eventually let me since I agreed that I would patch up the holes if I ever moved out and do some repairs on anything that did change provided that it was nothing too extreme like tiles. Stick on ones were fine since I would be paying for everything including the repairs when I moved out. Could be something you can negotiate if you're renting
@tyeshadurant3298
@tyeshadurant3298 3 жыл бұрын
@ChaosAngel1331 Yes, you can negotiate if you're not renting from a slumlord and don't have corrupt management. Some would use a tiny hole as an excuse to not return an entire security deposit.

I’ve not seen anyone mention how he made extra work for himself by sticking the tiles against the edge of the wall how he did? Should he not have turned them upside down so that their flat edge met with the flat edge of the right side of the wall? And then the second sheet of tile (working from right to left) would stay how he has them in the video, so that both non-straight edges would fit together like a jigsaw without overlap? Or am I being slow?
@KarlaTheMichelle
@KarlaTheMichelle 4 жыл бұрын
// K A I L E I G H // nah cause then when he got to the cabinets it would have been a pain. This way he can let the extra pieces stick out while hey lays down the rest of the tile
@kaileigh7385
@kaileigh7385 4 жыл бұрын
Karla M. Surely any slight problem at the cabinets still would have been easier. The way he did it meant he stuck tiles on top of each other. The whole point of the non straight edges with alternating tiles is that the sheets fit together like a jigsaw. But he literally just stuck those on top of the ones before. That a) isn’t the point of the tiles and b) makes it more difficult to work with hence the weird air bubbles! It’s hard to explain in writing but yeah
@kaileigh7385
@kaileigh7385 4 жыл бұрын
Like, look at it at 2:58. You’re not meant to stick the overhanging tiles on top of the half-tiles of the straight edge side. You’re supposed to fit the overhanging tiles of two sheets together like a jigsaw with no overlap.
