My grandfather was a coal miner, he recieved part payment, of his wages, in coal delivered to his. When the coal allowance arrived, it was always a day to back up the fire and sit in the dark looking at the frames and talking family news.

Hi Gazza, as per the Welsh government is like a *child in a sweet shop* .... Council taxes going up because there are too many doing very little in middle management and let's face it *can't count* Get people warm, fed, happy, attended by NHS and dentists more quickly and forget about ski slopes , *20 mph zones* or the evening bigger joke of returning then to 30!!! , solar panels and wind farms .... I have to say I think *North Wales* should become its *own country* as anything of huge expenditure is more or less in the South !! We are forgotten about up here .... Hang on, there used to be a Dry ski slope just outside Merthyr. It was a good size, but there were few takers and it failed, sat there derelict for years then eventually disappeared. So, it's been done before in a much rosier era. Why do they think that it'll work out now when people have nothing? That's because no such financial study has taken place. So, they aren't doing it for the ski slope. You're right it's for another reason. Maybe it's something to do with one of these Special Economic Zones that Drakeford signed off on. Do you know about that yet?

I am from Dorset was involved in the Bibby Stockholm Barge scandal with Dorchester County Council who all voted for it it was a huge money laundering operation I was on the Facebook Activust Goup doing my best fortunately a retired lady doctor did the research a lot of the money went overseas & was untraceable so Caymen Islands & a local wineyard ended up with a new building with stare of the art chillers for their new Champagne 🍾

I think Merthyr has been through quite enough since 1750 Gazza, especially from rich investors, but the coal could be a valuable resource indeed. I wonder how much it will benefit the people. That is my only question as well as where else could they spend that much? Farmers? NHS?

The irony that Companies House (Cardiff based, to bring jobs to Wales) is putting up the fees for companies because they have more responsibilities for 'transparency' about limited companies. So the micro companies I deal with, mostly one person businesses, will have to disclose information about their profits, reversing the one good thing to come out of EU law for companies.........

We had 1 in Swansea back in the 80s. It was used for a short while. You can see it festering away covered in grass and weeds. If it didn't work in Swansea I don't see it working in Merthyr. BBC Welsh news stated that the extra monies used on the Heads of the Valleys road, Welsh Government is over 40 million Gbp. We taxpayers will have to pay for this. This scheme stinks allegedly

The Sennedd are not business savvy just take Cardiff airport as an example. Don't think coal would happen due to environmental reasons, who's going to need it as all the power stations have closed. They tried this scheme before and it didn't work then.
