@@EriVodicaAlexander’s father Philip II is to thank for that his son inherited a great empire 😂 he united most of the Greek city states, created the Corinthian league governing body, he created a fiercely loyal group of nobles and civilians, reorganized the infantry and cavalry tactically and equipment wise, built a vast army, and built massive wealth 😂 it was almost impossible for Alexander to fail, he simply finished the job his father couldn’t because he got assassinated with many rumors of Alex and his mother being involved 😂🤔 at least Leonidas had honor
@EriVodicaАй бұрын
@DaeDae873 I'm not going to reply to your whole comment cause it's not that relevant of a thesis but please just clarify something for me, what good of a use is honor when you fail?
@DaeDae873Ай бұрын
@@EriVodica it’s not a thesis 😂 aside from the theory of Alex being involved in the assassination its all well documented fact that the greatness behind Macedon was king Philip and Alexander just inherited the perfect empire 🤷🏽♂️ and who failed ? Leonidas sure didn’t. They lost the battle of Thermopylae but because of how long they stood and the casualties they caused the halt allowed other Greeks to properly prepare for battle and eventually win the war otherwise they’d have been sitting ducks. The honor Leonidas died with inspired a standard for 10’s if not 100’s of thousands of people and united many Greek city states in a time of great suffering and uncertainty. Also put fear into some Persian hearts. Leonidas set a standard for the rest of Greece and after Thermoplyae they followed suit 👌🏼 that’s the power of honor it’s bigger than each individual

Excellent documentary!!! And in my humble opinion, King Leonidas was a man of his time. So firmly believing in his culture and standing that he fought for bravely, to his ultimate death! To say he was a courageous man, would be an absolute "understatement"...

00:58 Imagine standing in front of an enemy so vast that their arrows blot out the sun. And what does Leonidas say? 'Then we shall fight in the shade.' The courage, the audacity! This line alone tells you everything about the spirit of the Spartans. Absolutely spine-tingling.

The Spartan soldier Dienekes said, "Good, then we shall have our battle in the shade". He said this after being told that the Persian archers' arrows would block out the sun before the Battle of Thermopylae.
@Athleo1966Ай бұрын
... the Spartan Dienekes is said to have proved himself the best man of all, the same who, as they report, uttered this saying before they engaged battle with the Medes:- being informed by one of the men of Trachis that when the Barbarians discharged their arrows they obscured the light of the sun by the multitude of the arrows, so great was the number of their host, he was not dismayed by this, but making small account of the number of the Medes, he said that their guest from Trachis brought them very good news, for if the Medes obscured the light of the sun, the battle against them would be in the shade and not in the sun. Herodotus 7.226

“Four thousand years of Greek history have produced four Greek heritages, each of which has had an effect on the life of the Greeks in later stages of their history. The Hellenic Greeks received a heritage from the Mycenean Greeks, the Byzantine Greeks received one from the Hellenic Greeks, the Modern Greeks have received one heritage from the Byzantines and a second from the Hellenes.” From the notable work of Arnold Toynbee, prominent English historian; “The Greeks and Their Heritages”, Oxford University Press.

People and their lives were 100% diferent to today's way of life. But having said that Spartan's were known to treat women and helots better than Athenians, exept in them rare acassions when agoge trainese were instructed to kill the helots at will, who complain to insite a possible revolt.

What you are presenting on this map nothing sound like Greek, the names written of the places don't even present anything Greek, Explain, what Greece has to do in this period of time, Absolutely nothing didn't exist to be mentioned, if you want to talk about Greece start from 1832 AD, then not even a Greek person ruled Greece, here is a prove! Greece: (OTTO THE FIRST AND THE ONLY ONE KING OF GREECE. German Bavarian: Otto Fredrich Ludwig von Bayern, 1 June 1815 AD - 26 July 1867 AD) was a first Bavarian Prince as a King who Ruled Greece from the establishment of the monarchy on 27 May 1832 AD, under the Convention of London, until he was deposed on 23 October 1862 AD. Prove me if I’m wrong.
